Vehicle Technician

I was thinking about joining the armed forces. My family has some history, with two great grandfathers that served in the army during WW2, another great grandfather and both grandfathers served in the Navy (My family words are 'Per Mare Per Terras'). I have an uncle in the Canadian Rangers, my father is a reservist as an army communication and information system specialist and two of my older cousins are combat engineers. It really seems like a no brainer.

However, I'm just graduating High School and I want to be a vehicle technician. I was looking at some courses through Stratford Career Institute and other online colleges that say they can certify you as an automotive mechanic/technician in as little as 6 months. Would these types of courses be acceptable, or would I have to attend a 2 year college program with hands on training?

My grades are not an issue, I could easily get into any college, but I want to get to Occupational Qualification ASAP.

You would need to go to a recruiting centre, so they can check the current list of acceptable programs for vehicle technicians.

Why go to College?  The CF will train you to be a Vehicle Technician and on top of that, the occupation is NOW hiring and the CF needs "alot" of them.
