I'm wondering (before I just drop 'em in the washing machine) if there is any special precations I should take for washing "Winter Whites"?

The only thing the tag says is...

'4. May be Washed or Dry-Cleaned'

I'm going to assume you mean drop it in the wash.

Hot/Warm/Cold? Is it safe to use a stronger detergeant? There is some pretty nasty mud/dirt stains.

Hot gets the dirt out.... as for soap... whatever... just don't use bleach.

Well, washed them... There seems to be a stubborn stain on the pants. Looks like mud of sorts (Brown). For something like that.. Would I just repeat with a stronger detergent? I just dont want to damage these suckers.

I've seen guys spray paint theirs, and stripe them with boot polish or sharpies, and dig in while wearing them.

Most have blood/chew spit/burn holes/naptha/diesel/CLP/rations all over them. Really, it doe'snt matter, I promise. When they are totalled, just exchange them, it's not like they are your favorite Rugby jersey or anything!!

but wait - if he can't exchange them - how did he get them issued?

So that's where all the kit goes!!  :threat: :rage:

Maybe I'm missing it, but I can't see anything that he says he was issued it. And I'd bet Just A Sig Op is right and he picked up a set at the local surplus store.

It's really not hard to find the issued whites in stores nowadays.

What color does it turn if it's bleached?

Yep, Surplus. In the GTA you can pick up a set (pants/tunic) for 30$.

So any suggestions for those "stuck" stains?

They're more effective with a little colour and pattern anyway. You don't want to be out there looking like a lily white blob, you'll stand out more. Kinda like a seal pup. If your really intent on getting them really super clean try "Google".
