First of all, I think it is safe to say the West is forgotten for just about everything the army has to offer and/or last to get it. As for CADPAT, I heard one of the hold ups is that when 3 ppcli came back from Afghanistan they had to burn there CADPAT and all get reissued it so there is a shortage of CADPAT in the system. When I was at ASU CHWK most of the units had submitted there orders but there is not enough right now. There a a few people beside the recruiting center personnel that have CADPAT but some can‘t wear it. Some people that got it issued for special taskings such as G-8 have it. I myself have 3 issued sets (and for some reason they didn‘t want me 3 sets of OD‘s) and unlike 39 CBG members, am authorised to wear it because I belong under 1 ASG. A few of my troops have it in my platoon have it, 8 of 24 members have CADPAT. Still waiting all all the others to get it issued. I think it will be a while before everyone gets it.

Dont feel bad, in Esquimalt, they only have CADPAT for the extremely large person or the extremely small. No in between. I always said, id be retired before I actually saw any of it.

:D Heard MP‘s weren‘t getting it issued cause they never get out of the car!! :p ;)

I dont think its a matter of being forgotten, I think its more a supply issue. For instance, There were no CADPATS to fit me for a UN tour. Im not a big guy, only 6 feet tall and 215, but the CADPATS Esquimalt had in stock were for giants or midgets, yet a Naval Reservist working Port Security had a full issue of them!!!

HOW DARE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, your probably right for some. I took pride in the fact that I actually got out of the car and walked around the Q‘s!! Plus all the time I spend in the gym, gives me the right to rib the "bigger" guys!!

From where does the idea come that anyone must be authorized to wear it? My understanding, and it may be wrong, is that if it‘s issued, it may be worn.

That is correct, and nobody said that its wrong. I was just commenting on the fact that guys on operational taskings (as I was) should have the proper clothing and equipment to do the job. My combat pants had holes in them and the legs had worn through to a point were you could see skin. My shirts were grey from use. Do you think supply took these ratty items off me?...............nope! Make due with what you got!! LOL.........maybe I should have gone down to the army surplus store and bought a new set of combats..........**** , I bet I could have bought a set of CADPATS too!...........LOL

What tour were you on MP811 that you did not get issued CADPAT?

MP811, don‘t get riled, but if the Log Wogs are treating you bad, maybe look at how you are perceived. Presentation goes a long, long way.

I was one of the few MP‘s on my base(s) who never had a prob exchanging kit, especially when there was NONE to be had (right). I was also able to derive info for investigations and had numerous (approved) CI‘s that the actual Invest Sect didn‘t.

Further, when I went overseas, I was well taken care of before I left and while in theatre(s). In fact, my Sgt was also well afforded through me.

Yet I did 22 Criminal Investigations in theatre, one guy off to DB for an extended stay before TQ Civvie, lots of Service related and yet, I was good to go.

Not saying anything about you, and I do know you. Similar routes ring a bell… or two. And no that isn‘t four bells dockside.

But I was never afraid to be fair, loyal to the branch, zealous of the CF and dedicated to my community off duty. I have carried that in my subsequent exploits and it always succeeds. Other than when it comes to gamers, but I digress.

Being in Esquimalt, hmm. Ever since the demise of Workpoint, the Navy has never really taken a shine to anything non-navy affiliated. MP‘s included. **** I will march my old man out of his Navy Locker, err, closet. The man hated MP‘s so much I had to prove to him I was out before he would talk to me again.

Freakin squids. Him and his buddies hide in the back of the Legion once a month, wear Square Rig and practice their bloody Boson Calls. And to him there is only supposed to be a Shore Patrol in the Navy. The Apes are for the WOGS (anything not navy-Without Guts and Strength).

Anchors away (as long as you haven‘t been tied to it).

;)

Well maybe some people miss understood me. I‘m not at all saying the west is always forgotten...it just seems to me that for the most part Western area is the last area to receive things. I realize everyone will be issued the cadpat someday so I‘m not too worried. There is a supply problem I realize that.

Also on the issue of authorized wearing of it. I‘m not talking about personel on operations because they usually don‘t have a problem getting kit. It is just that the LFWA comd had issued a written order that reserve units in are not authorized the issue of it. This letter was posted on the wall at by unit‘s QM, I‘m not making it up. There are always exeptions to this however...some people have been issued it and returned ther OD‘s and now they are told they have to be reissued there OD‘s because it is not authorized for wear. I have also been told from people in Edmonton that if you have it issued you have to wear it or you will be charged or something (so they say). Maybe because there is so little Cadpat.

In the end I‘m not too worried about it because we will all get it someday....

Hi Gunner, tours!................thats another story. I dagged green for Ethiopia and then at the last minute, told I wasnt going. I was going to Bosnia instead. Then I was told that due to manpower restrictions at my guardhouse, they couldnt send me. Totally funny though, because I was one of the few people at my section who actually wanted to go on tour and we had alot of people red flagging for what I percieved to be questionable reasons.......but who am I to question why.......there‘s an age old expression "mine‘s not to question why, mine‘s but to do or die"

Harry, I wasnt getting riled.......I found it quite funny actually and didnt care anyways after the issue of the new patrol dress. And I did have a good working relationship with pretty much everyone on base. I think its because I treated people the way they wanted to be treated without the high and mighty MP attitute. An attitute that alot of guys percieved. Unfortunately, when one has a bad experiance with one, everyone suffers.

Too funny on the Navy stuff man. I did come across a few "old schoolers" Thats for sure. I just laughed and shrugged it off. You also say that you know me?
