What is your favourite part about being soldiers?

I‘ve not seen this post before, but if it has been done, please disregard.

Peace.

I agree, it‘s not the pay, It‘s not the working conditions it‘s the rest of the unit.

It‘s a love hate relationship.
The bad is counter balanced by the good.
But most of all is the trust and comradship that is built amongst us that you never get on civie street.

We all do it for the food....
But the great hours, lovely wet or winter conditions, and all that time we spend away from our families make it soo great.

:D ;) :) :warstory: :salute:

Honestly, when I joined I was looking for the adventure, then it was the satisfaction of been able to do cool stuff and do it well, now its become a career and I want to see how far I can go. Along the way the comradeship, the sports and the lack of the job getting boring helps along the way.

Finally, its not to bad of an enviroment to raise your kids in dispite the deployments. :cdn:

Sense of national pride particularly while serving overseas. When you serving in some war torn, destroyed, urinal of a third world country, and you have a sense of national pride and belonging when you see the maple leaf flapping over a safe and relatively normal place to stay.

a sense of pride, camaderie, and the use of equipment and weapons that allow us to blow things up!!! :tank: :gunner:

Cpt. Kap hit it on the head...if your in it for the pay..you‘re certainly not going to be lasting long. if your into the whole extreme elements and a back so sore you cant sit as a working enviroment...then its for you. The bond built between soldiers is what matters.

When your overseas sitting at the front gate in some crappy town in some crappy country for 12 hours watching nothing but cars drive by, the thing that keeps you going is the nice fat paycheck that you get every two weeks that you know none of your friends are getting back home.

Then when your on your HLTA travelling first class across Europe on the train, knowing that you didnt even pay a dime for the ticket. Your definately thinking "dam, the army pays pretty dam well"

When its all said and done and you travelled across europe for almost a month fully paid for, spent 6months over there and only spent 3g and you come home with about 20g in the bank, and another 3 comin just for vacation time when your home, you are definately thinking, "I love the pay"

dont kid yourself about moeney not being a factor, cause for a lot of guys who have been on 4 tours already and find out they have to go back to some country where close to feck all is happening the one reason why they would want to do it is for the money.

Disturbance

working as a team

and knowing you are serving your country

I guess the money is a bonus
I‘ve never joined the army for the money

I was gonna do it for free
didn‘t even know they pay, until later...
lol

Some Days it is all about the money..

thankfully though, most days its about being able to do a job i accually enjoy, and as a student there isnt alot out there for you. so a job like the reserves where the pay is good, the hours are managable, and you learn some very important life lessons, is a real great opportunity. 5 years and counting, and i still havent ruled out reg force after college.
