Ok I've been going over alot of info here lately, and i see alot of people whom are not happy with the TCCCS.

What components would you all keep, toss? What would you love to see in an actual system If the TCCCS was never built.

Let's see.......I would keep................................

the padlock that secures it in the tray.

The rest would become a boat anchor. Not a great one, but better than it is a radio.

First thing I would do is give all the guys who sat for a year at the far end of the runway in Edmonton driving for the program a leave pass for all the wasted hours.  Also have the civies who invented the POS give the DND a checque to cover all the squandered man hours.  Am I bitter?  Does it show?  :D

Blow up TCCCS....get SINCGARS and EPLRS cbt net radio systems then lay down ABCS and FBCB2-like SA/Comd/BFT systems on top.  Hey, that would even be compatible with our allies, what a concept.  Sadly, we didn't shutdown the trunk-based, optimized for the Faulda Gap radio system when we should have.

Cheers,
Duey

I think the CI box should be blown up. Waste of space and time.... And endless cigarettes..

Well keep praying but they won't be getting rid of TCCCS anytime soon. In the meantime, I'd modify the system just for ease of working conditions:

1. Put the serial # on the face-plate. Too many bonked heads trying to read them while they are locked into the tray.

2. Put basic instructions on the outside of the 522. Most importantly including error-tone definitions so you know why the darned thing is
    chirping at you.

3. Extend the power cables of the 522 in vehicle mounts so for once you don't have to use your Gerber.

4. Clearly mark the co-ax either "1" or "2" so you don't have to follow the wires to the AMUs (when dealing with vehicles that have more than one radio.)

5. Have instructions with every radio.

And for the heck of it:

6. Give that briefcase of a computer to the engineers to practice demolition skills.

7. Update the NAU so it is actually faster than my Grandpa's old '86 Macintosh.

8. Provide 'Emergency hammer' in carry-satchel of the 521 LAR, to save your boots.
