Good day all,

If I'm a Lt at IPC 7 and I get promoted to Capt, does that mean I then start off at the basic Capt pay level?

My apologies if my search-fu is weak.

In brief, you go to IPC 0.  Your pay, however, will not drop, but will remain where it is until your Captain's IPC pay level exceeds your current rate of pay.  For example. if your Lieutenant's IPC 7 pay falls between Captains IPC 2 and 3, you won't get a pay raise (except general cost of living increases, of course) until you are eligible for Captain IPC 3 based on time served in rank.

If Lt (7) is higher than Capt (0), then you will get Capt(1) - this happened when I was granted my Pilot MOSID.  I was drawing GSO Capt(2) which was higher than Pilot Capt(0) therefore I received Pilot Capt(1).

Good Day All,

Long time since this topic was touched, but here is the method the pay is actually calculated at...all speculation aside;

1) Determine the difference between Capt 1 and Capt 0.
2) Take your current rate of pay and add the difference from #1
3) Using the Capt pay scale, determine the next highest incentive based off the total of #2.
4) Your new incentive for Capt is what is determined from #3.

Cheers!
