why isnt biking helping me

why is it i can bike for 45 minutes+ and not be winded at all and then be winded after running for like 3 mintues, its not making any sence and my physical is coming very soon, how can i get into good shape in like 2 weeks?
 
Running and bicycling use different muscles.

If you are training for something, your training should duplicate the event for which you are training.

So, if you‘ve only got two weeks ... good luck, and hit the running track/stair-master/whatever.
 
My advice, if you‘re training for running, then start running. You will have greater results by training for what will be used the most for you. And if it‘s for the forces, I don‘t think that you will be riding too many bikes.

Maybe your going too fast on the run. check your pulse rate after the 3 minutes, than if its greater than 170 pulse per minutes, your going way too fast. Start slowly and run 10 minutes at first, then add 1 minutes per day. When you start running, you should only do endurance work and be concern not about speed, but about the time. you will get faster anyway believe me. And take one day off before the test.

You can see if you are running too fast if you cant talk to someone.
 
alright thanks alot for the help guys, yea i‘ve sorta been dorminte on the whole physical activity thing for about a year an a half now, so its been hard to get back into it, so i thought just biking would help with the cardio to some point anyways, ill just trying taking er easy at first and buliding it up slowly day to day
 
biking does help with cardio....but if you‘re biking, and you‘re not winded, you‘re not exercising. you‘re just cruising along on two wheels. you have to be breathing hard and sweating, otherwise it‘s ineffective.
 
Running is a weightbearing exercise while cycling is not. Cycling will help your cardio but will not be as helpful for the muscle development for running.
