Week long camping trip in Algonquin coming up - Need a few things.  I know I'm able to pick the items below in surplus stores but I figure I could help out a gear hoarding clear out a few items/score a few good deals.

I'm looking for 2 Issue Shelter Halfs/Ground Sheets.

Also, a few of my buddies are looking for some Rucks and the cheap side, decent working order is ideal - If minor repairs are needed just let me know/take pictures of damaged areas.

Name your prices/post pictures if possible.

Preference to people located in the GTA/Hamilton/Niagara Region. Would rather drive to pick up vs. shipping if possible.

Cheers all!  :camo:

Just got my monthly email from CP Gear and they are selling 64 Pattern Ruck parts for 25% off.

Funny you mention that, I just picked ordered one Sat night (Anyone have experience with the Gen III? Liking it?). Unfortunately for my friends new gear like that is out of their current budget. Hence the hunt for old CF issued rucks.

Cheers though!

64 Ruck is the cat's meow.. whatever model you got. Mine is the old school design.

I just got a Gen III (funny enough... right before the sale started) and it seems.... OK.  I didn't have much time to evaluate it before it was stuffed into my UAB.  The bag doesn't mount into the high posistion (my favoured spot) all that seamlessly, the straps all backed off constantly on my first march with it (a way to "scuff" the webbing so it doesn't back off as easily?) and overall I think I had my hopes set too high.  I was hoping for straps and workmanship that I might find on my Kifaru or Tactical Tailor pack, but somehow it all seems a little bit "homemade".  Like I said, I didn't have it long to evaluate and don't have it in front of me.  Generally, I find myself happy withCP Gear kit.

Hmm, I know with the 82 pack I used to double back the straps (a pain in the ass) but they would never slip. Kind of like Captain barring your top holes on combat boots. Regardless, cheers for the heads up. I'll have to do a few treks with the bag before Algonquin anyways... get used to the bugger.

Try and get yourself some of the replacement buckles for the daypack (you may have some laying around, otherwise ask at your local supply). Attach them just under the buckle already on the shoulder straps and good to go. Unless you're handy with a sewing machine or near a tailor, this was what I did.

I got an email after my last order just about general comments, and I asked about the straps letting off, they responded with two seperate emails. First was a quick fix...

Hi Daniel,

.... (unrelated content) ....

In regard to the 64 pack straps. I would first tighten up the webbing straps on the frame by using a pair of pliers and really snugging them up taunt. Then I would use either cable ties or duck tape to keep the loose webbing from the remaining strap so it can’t move around. That should help a lot I think.

You can call me this week and I’ll explain further if that would help.

Thanks

By the way do u mind if I post your question up on my blog for others to read?

After an email like that from a company, you really realize that these are great guys to deal with. Then I got another response...

Hi David, (That's not my name!  :blotto:)

Thanks for the inquiry.  Can you be more specific in terms of which straps you’re referring to on the Gen III 64?

Thanks,

Colour me impressed. Hopefully they can have this issues worked out soontime?

Also, Lerch, that seems like a very simple, and effective method! I might give that a go and have a backup of duct tape - Cheers!
