I have a few questions please.
My two uncles served with the BCR(28th Cdn Armd Regiment)during WW2. :warstory:
One uncle was in a recce troop/squadron.
How many tanks/troops would there be in a recce troop/squadron?
I believe that the Canadian tanks were Sherman tanks, correct?
How do the Canadian tanks of WW2 compare to those in use today?
Any replies/comments/information would be appreciated please. :)

recce troop used Stuart tanks, the rest of the regiment was in Shermans.  I recommend you find the book SOUTH ALBERTAS: A CANADIAN REGIMENT AT WAR.  It will answer all your questions.  Donald E. Graves is the author.  It is a history of the South Alberta Regiment, one of the other armoured regiments in the same division as the BCR.  (Officially they were armoured recce, but they were outfitted identical to the BCR).  The book has a manual on how tank regiments fought and operated in WW II, in addition to being an excellent book - probably the best regimental history ever written, certainly as far as the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps goes.  I can't recommend it highly enough.  Your local library should be able to get you a copy via interbranch loan if it doesn't already have one.
