WW1 and WW2 War Veterans Badge Numbers

A question were badges issued with serial numbers and where might records of the numbers be? National Archives?

Any hints appreciated.

First World War badge numbers can usually be found recorded in service records on the Medal Index Card, but I do not believe there is a roll that matches badge numbers to recipients.

Archives says they have a database. We have two numbers but no names  - so need a reverse lookup. Will keep anyone info if they wish - just PM me
