My father who passed away in July 2008 was a North Nova Scotia Highlander.  He was also president of the Ontario chapter of the North Novie Memory Club.  He came into possession, somehow, of a journal kept by William Henry Smith (also a North Novie - "A Company") which diarizes William's time overseas in the army from leaving Halifax on the Orion in June 1941 to to post D-Day in 1944.

I have transcribed the journal together with some scans of objects/photos which I found in the journal into a blog at http://michaelwwii.wordpress.com/.  I'm sure you'd find it a moving and fascinating read and if you can shed any further light on William, I would be to grateful to know.

That was a fantastic read!  Thank you for putting it up AND for sharing the link with us.  :salute:

My uncle was in the North Novas at the same time so this really struck home. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
