Occasional Cannabis Oil Use For Sleep (Medical Exam)

I did my medical yesterday (both parts). The physical went well. I excelled in the auditory and colourblindness tests and was told I qualify for my chosen occupations. Vision wasn't ideal, but I wear glasses and got some characters right without them. I take a small amount of THC/CBD hybrid oil twice a week for sleep (only when needed) and am currently on Vyvanse for focus, though I mentioned I can manage without it. I filled out a cannabis risk assessment form and got 3 (when I do use the oil it's alone, and I am rarely forgetful, but it still happens), which I don't know if it's a risk or not. I also used to take Venlafaxine for OCD symptoms, but stopped 7 months ago. Does anyone know if using medicinal cannabis or having taken these medications could affect my chances of passing the medical or the overall application process?

The OCD and ADD/ADHD may cause some push back, the OCD especially since it's an anxiety disorder and soldiering and training for it can certainly be anxiety producing...and worsened by lack of sleep, which again can be an issue, since most people have to be able to work shifts or work with little to no sleep. Given new guidance from the CDS, they might let them fly as long as they don't become an issue.

Frankly, I've given up hope trying to keep up with what's happening since I left.

Thank you for the response. Not sure if it means anything, but when asked if I can fall asleep without cannabis oil, I said 30 minutes. They gave me some forms, so hopefully my doctor can help clear up the fact that my OCD is minimal, and that is the reason why I stopped medication 7 months ago.

Using cannabis (medically or recreationally) will not be allowed at BMQ, at least not while at CFLRS. They go through your bags when you arrive for BMQ and confiscate anything considered contraband. You will get it back at the end of the course.

One of the guys in my BSL course definitely did not get his bag of coke back at the end of the course, he of course wasn’t there either…

Well, to be fair, coke is not legal, the way cannabis is... I kinda wish I had been staff on that course, just to see that discovery LOL

Way back when the Earth was cooling and we had a UN mission in the Sinai, rotation of personnel was staged through Lahr, Germany. The usual routine for repat was to fly (by svc air) from Cairo to Lahr, RON and before boarding the flight the next morning go through customs. There were Canadian Customs permanently posted to our bases in Germany. As I was going through this process someone a couple of spaces ahead of me in the queue was asked by the Customs agent if he had anything to declare, to which he replied "nothing". The agent repeated the question with "are you sure - you bought nothing in the six months that you were in Egypt?". The soldier again replied nothing. The agent seemed a little exasperated by the soldier's continuing insistence that he had nothing to declare since it was so unusual, so he asked him to open his luggage. The suitcase was opened and underneath a towel right on top was six bricks of hashish. Some people are just born stupid.

Oh, of course. I would not use it in the months leading up to BMQ and would not take it with me. It's really not necessary. I haven't consumed it since my medical, and can sleep well as long as I don't use screens before.

You can use it up until you get to BMQ. You can use it on weekends you leave CFLRS and stay in a hotel or go home. There is no drug testing. It is on the honour system. But if you don't have to use it, that's up to you.

Okay, I thought I read that you needed to be clean for some time before attending BMQ, and that they take blood samples during. Thanks for clarifying.
