Maybe, but we're in a way different political and media environment than in WW 1 & 2.
When POTUS47 was POTUS45, a lot of people on these boards who were usually pretty strong supporters of NATO were happy to agree with POTUS not guaranteeing the US would be there for Europe if invaded - which he eventually backtracked on and said he would be. I'm sensing a bit more of that now with Trump 2.0 back in the wheelhouse.
If very-generally-right-of-centre folks, usually supportive of military action against authoritarian regimes, were (are?) OK with Europe just having to fight its own fight against USSR 2.0 if it came to it, we could see a lot more of this to the argument that, like in WW2, it's right to stop bullies even if they're just kicking our friends in the nutz ....
