I'm all for foreign investment, especially USA. And at the same time (contrary to our political leadership and anti-American crowd) I am not advocating "elbows up" and suggesting some sort of American boycott.

How could you come to that train of thought?

I guess I was pointing out that we all have investments in the US market, and most personal investors (myself included) act in their own best economic interest. The fact that I intensely disapprove of the current trend of events in the US does not require me to self-harm economically (the Trump admin is doing enough of that already).

Are you suggesting that all politicians should divest all of their foreign financial holdings upon election? And if they don't, they cant advocate for Canada's best interests?

Not at all. I'm suggesting to stop talking out of both sides of their mouths. Don't advocate the population towards anti-American behavior while secretly taking personal action that demonstrates a lot of faith and trust in the American markets and system.

If only we lived in a world of nuance, where people who support shopping local would also sometimes get something at Walmart, or vice versa, without being called an anti-capitalist Bolshevik or a rapacious predatory oligarch.

Prime Minister Mark Carney stood by his public safety minister on Wednesday, saying Gary Anandasangaree had been open about his support for the immigration of a suspected terrorist group member.


“The public safety minister has been transparent about the details of that situation and he has my confidence,” Carney said after announcing measures to protect Canada’s steel industry.

To be fair the public minister hasn't supported any terrorists immigrating to Canada since becoming a cabinet member.

b) pay down debt
