I think it will spur some to join specific trades. I think that it will help some stay on a little longer for the annual bonus. But a lot of the short trades are short because the civilian equivalent pays more. So likely we'll see them still leave, maybe just a little later in their career.Congrats folks for those still in, long overdue in my view.
Here is a question. Do you guys think this will spur some re sign ups?
12k with first time home buyers loan approaches a down payment in Edmonton.I think it will spur some to join specific trades. The move benifits are interesting, helps to reduce the stress for sure so good QoL improvement there.
Or dissuade the PS from bargaining higher because "the CAF got thisThe beauty of this is that it’s the Mil Factor. Not base pay. So when the PS negotiates a pay increase it will affect the base pay when that comes.
Well, they promised us 20% and they are giving us 13%.
Someone working a comfy and safe office job where they don’t deploy or sail or go to the field will still get a mostly 13% increase, which is pretty good.
So I did the math for myself. Including the +21 years bonus ($6000) it works out to about an 18.4% pay increase. As I don't get CFHD where I'm at I can't complain.

Have to wonder if this scope of pay raise is causing some with the CCG to say, wait a minute, maybe we should be considered part of the CAF and undergo weapons training and have armament on our ships. The only folks getting 13% or less are:
1) Those above Sailor/Private/Aviator with less than 5 years in.
2) COLs and GOFOs.
Both of these groups combined is a small percentage of the CAF. Everybody else is getting more.
Heck, I'm one of those staff Os at the puzzle palace working a comfy office job. And my raise is 17.7%.
Yep. If they are applying this to the whole pay table, I'll be at 17.7%. I was ready to be happy with 5% per year for 4 years. This is nuts.
And more than anything, I'm genuinely happy to see things like scaled posting allowances and instructor bonuses. This is genuinely good for the institution.
Mark Carney and David McGuinty should never have to buy their own beers in any CAF mess ever after this.
Good. A good chunk of the loss to the PS is simply because the differential is so small that it doesn't compensate for the military inconveniences. I know a really solid LCOL that pulled pin at 25y and took an ENG 4 job. Stability and relaxed work, as he put it. We might actually keep some of these folks in longer.
I described this elsewhere as ‘suspiciously competent’. I think some really, really solid staff work probably went into this. The only folks getting 13% or less are:

Hats off to those who did this.I described this elsewhere as ‘suspiciously competent’. I think some really, really solid staff work probably went into this.
Dangerous what can happen when you have a competent MND get shuffled to TBS and then Foreign Affairs....Hats off to those who did this.
I have some little voice in my head chirping, did Anita Anand lay the groundwork 20-24 months ago for this to happen.
From the sound of things, it is only being an instructor at specific locations. It didn't sound like it was going to be a standard benefit for instructors in general.$45 a day for domops, and the instructor compensation is a great measure
