All Things AB Separatism (split fm Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???)

Her parents named her Marlaina, as far as I know she hasn't legally changed her name, so Marlaina it is.
What if one of your coworkers name was Mike but they went by Michelle. Ever since you knew them. Email signature block, memos, name on their lunch box.

You would still make a point of calling them Mike, huh?

Normally I would respect their choice but I have it on good authority that Marlaina doesn't care about people going by their prefered names.

So Marlaina it is.

What disrespect?

It's her name.
Come now, most of us here are reasonably intelligent and have a decent read on each other. In almost all other cases I believe you would side with respecting the name someone chooses to use to refer to themselves by. For her that’s Danielle. You’re calling her Marlaina deliberately and as frequently as possible out of some weirdly manifested spite. It’s silly.

Remember forever Canada, the pro Canada referendum group that got the jump on the separatist group, but needed more signatures in less time?

Crushed it.

Now I fully expect Marlaina Smith to slowwalk this or kill it outright as it doesn't serve her separatist cause, but it's nice to see loyal Canadians rally and crush the higher bar.

So, they went the ‘policy’ path which means this should either go to a vote in the legislature - which is what he says he prefers - or a referendum.

I kinda like the option that puts members of the legislature on the spot to show their colours on the issue of Alberta independence. Just get the bullshit done with.

Marlaina has made it perfectly clear that there is no disrespect by calling someone the name given to them at birth.

In respect to her, and her legislation, I will do what she would want, and call her by her birth name.

Either way, Marlaina will ensure this does not see the light of day.

Please enlighten me on the rule I am breaking so I can properly modify my behavior in accordance to the rules of army.ca
You're deliberately being a troll by using Smith's legal name that absolutely nobody uses in a pretty terrible attempt to skirt the no name calling rule. You also know the spirit of the exact rule you're breaking and if you want to use your last strike digging into this childish game, no nuts.

Well, it's nice to know that Army.ca has better rules on names than the province of Alberta.

With the knowledge that calling Danielle Smith by her birth name is a disrespectful act I will properly modify my behaviour and henceforth only address her as Danielle Smith.
