Police Folk Allegedly Behaving Badly

Ridiculous.

The previous Chief was sworn in at his old high school, and the one before him was sworn in at the local hockey arena (a City facility). Just enough coverage to be respectful, costs minimal.

This might not look great as they go to the Board for more cash for next year.

Oh well, at least everyone knows the new Chief now! ;)

In a normal world the conviction would likely cost the agent his job, but with ICE and this Administration, who knows.
You'd think so...

We had an RCMP officer here in Alberta that was charged & convicted of attempting to lure a minor online - he kept his job

In BC, an RCMP officer passed out while drunk, in a marked RCMP vehicle, in a drive through... - and kept his job

Before stupid people & corruption were in charge of everything, your statement would most likely hold true.

But decisions to keep people like that employed (in a position of trust, go figure) aren't a thing just with the administration down south...

(Keeping him employed will be the decision of ICE, not with Trump's cabinet - but I get where ur coming from)

Looks like he managed to do all the wrong things, all at once ...

Rookie officer sexually assaulted female trainee in police HQ bar

A ROOKIE police officer, who sexually assaulted another probationer and went on a racist rant in the bar in Police Scotland’s headquarters, has been sentenced to unpaid work.

Connor Smith’s racist diatribe was triggered by seeing someone going to a mosque wearing prayer robes.

The wannabe police officer, who has since quit the force, then talked about “sucking d***” at prayers and shooting Pakistanis, disgusting his fellow probationers.

The incident took place in a smoking area at the Copper Lounge bar on the police HQ and training centre complex at Tulliallan Castle.

That is one of the most bizarre news stories I’ve read. It just keeps throwing curves at you.

That sounds like every Brit sailor I have seen ashore in Souda Bay or Marmaris.

Police recruit to call centre employee. It seems he would have made a fine police officer. :ROFLMAO:

Unless his actions were out of the blue with no warning flags, it seems their recruitment/background procedure might need some help. I would hope that the fact that he was gay did not override any other considerations.

Maybe it should be part of their training that all recruits are observed getting drunk.

Press gangs used to ‘recruit’ in pubs for a reason ;)

Unsafe storage of your service weapon at home, discovered when they're executing a search warrant for improperly taking copies of intimate images involved in an investigation? That's 10 days pay.

Sigh

So, as a peace officer, you can keep your job after being found guilty and receiving a suspended sentence and probation?

And yet we tell some great potential recruits to go pound sand for a year or two for a deferral because of some nonsense... 🤦🏽‍♂️

5 municipal police officers in B.C. dismissed for misconduct last fiscal year: report

A sergeant who engaged in a “pattern of predatory behaviour” towards his female colleagues was one of five municipal police officers dismissed for misconduct in B.C. during the last fiscal year, according to a provincial watchdog.

B.C.’s Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner reports annually on its work, including by providing anonymized summaries of cases where allegations have been substantiated.

Between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, the oversight agency found 64 officers had committed a combined 95 counts of misconduct and imposed penalties ranging from reprimands to dismissal.

A police officer can keep their job after drawing their service weapon on another officer and threatening them with it.

Much more job security than your average joe and the worst take advantage of that.

Meanwhile if I were to do such a thing for starters even threatening someone where I work is grounds for immediate termination (the running joke is if you are going to threaten someone you might as well hit them as your fired either way). And that is excluding the host of charges that would be thrown at me likely resulting at the minimum of losing my firearms license, and jail time.

Meanwhile police officer does it a year of supervision on the job with 15 days pay docked. Definitely a double standard at work.

The ultimate (so far) Canadian police story:

Pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon, using a firearm in the commission of an offense, careless use of a firearm, uttering threats.

What did the other RCMP officers get in the way of discipline for just watching this unfold?

It doesn’t sound like any thing. Here is another article on it with more information (stating the chief wanted her fired). Somewhat difficult to research, search engines don’t want to go back that far and many news article links are dead now.

Just googling her name shows she was with the RCMP in 2022 in Cowichan area. Good chance she is still employed.

Double standards like this is unacceptable in my opinion. The police need to be held to a higher standard than your general public specifically due to the level of trust and power placed in their hands. Punishments should be more severe not less.

Not to mention is this who you want to show as the minimum standard for your workplace? To have your new recruits come in and be told ‘yeah it’s a slap on the wrist for one of the most serious offences you can make’?

It seems she is doing fine, however she should not have been given the second chance. Getting fired should have been the least of her worries. Firearms prohibition and jail time should have been required.

You don't think you can point a loaded pistol at a RCMP officer, threaten them, and walk off with a $3000 to $4000 fine and transfered job locations (paid move presumably).
