Plus the Italian candidate. The reporting was that the European contenders were the favoured one. The KS-III is pretty large for operating in the Baltic/North Sea area. I would have thought that the U212CD would have been the favourite, but maybe Poland thought that with Norway/Germany (and possibly Canada) buying the U212CD they couldn't wait.

Interestingly, found this article from eight years ago about a Swedish proposal to arm the A26 with a VLS carrying 18 TLAM.

Wow! Saab flying in from the top rope wasn't on my bingo card at all.

I wonder if Poland's decision has anything to do with how soon they want their subs, and if so that may not bode well for TKMS regarding our own choice. I hope that the people involved in making our own pick are watching closely.
