People who have been on tcat for injury did you ever request a early reassessment? If so what did that involve and look like for you

You can request a reassment at anytime. The MO may make you wait X number of months before seeing you and reassessing you, or might talk to you on the phone and take you off TCat immediately.

Depends on the doctor and your reasons.

As someone that put people on categories for an injury, you'd need/I'd want to see (well, really should have) to demonstrate that the issue has in fact resolved objectively, whether physio reports as well as a physical examination +/- specialist report if you'd seen one/needed surgery or non-surgical management.

I appreciate the reply and what better person to ask this to, What would you conclude for a herniated disc? these issues never really resolve but im still operational I just need to be careful in what I do day to day heavy lifting wise to avoid further injury, im hoping to switch to a admin type trade. As for resolution of this issue I talked with the surgeon I was referred to and he said I'm extremely young to get a surgery for this and I should pursue less invasive treatment at the moment which I am and I'm holding off on surgery as long as I can as it wasn't suggested as absolutely needed right now. But I'm stable nothing is getting worse and I'm managing on my own following pyiso suggested movements etc and it was deemed by physio I'd no longer need to see them because I'm so diligent in what I'm doing.

Honestly this career means everything to me, I love the CAF and want to stay serving, I'm young, healthy other then this one issue and can still perform duties as needed.

I wouldn't try and get back to full duties if you're not able to - your body doesn't really forgive or forget after a certain age. Keep with therapy and gradually increase your ability to lift. If you've still got time on the category, use it to get as good as you can get.

Solid advice thank you very much. Do you know how a possible pcat that's low risk would affect a trade change?

Remember that as an admin type trade, you may be tasked anytime to do heavy lifting.. Loading stores on ship, lifting boat trailers off hitches, hauling lines alongside, and moving equipment as directed between spaces. These examples are all tasks I had to complete at various times through my admin type career. At a bare minimum, you will be expected to be able to lift boxes of paper. Any of these tasks have the potential for exacerbating your condition. MM's advice to work at improving your health is the best advice for long term QOL.

☝️ - This. So clerks do deploy in all units, on ships are often part of the Casualty Clearing Teams as a for instance - a very hard on the back chore at times. They're also employed in army units doing army stuff, carrying army things...and people. Another thing - sitting for long times is very bad on on your spine, just be aware of that. Bombing around in trucks and armoured vehicles is not great for your spine either, especially cross country - seen people actually blow discs on shite highways and roads. It's not all doing claims and People Soft

Again solid advice, insight and so on which I appreciate very much. I'm hyper aware of most if not all trades are not friendly on the body. But there has to be somewhere I fit into all of this right? It can't be all doom and gloom, I'm also open to suggestions, advice etc as what my options may be if I haven't already explored them. I know I make my career of course as well but I'm open minded to other trades or do they just all destroy your body and you end up broken in the end regardless?

There is always the public service. There are still ways to serve the country (and the CAF) without wearing green. We rely on them to do a lot of work and literally couldn't operate without their support.

Those jobs are not easily accessible, if they were I'm sure there would be alot of people that in going civy side in a heart beat. Or am I wrong?

We are are most likely going on a hiring spree to support Army Modernization. Plus, if it the worst comes to pass and the CAF can't retain you due to your injury you can be placed on the priority hiring list. As an unqualified Pte you, most likely, may not be eligible for all the jobs out there. That is what VAC retraining money is for.

Sometimes when pers get hurt they also get very sad. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you need to talk to someone, do so. There are a lot of resources available, especially as a CAF member. I wish you the best and hope you are able to make a full recovery. But if not, don't worry, it isn't the end of the world. There are lots of good options for other career paths both inside and outside the defence community.

I appreciate the solid advice, but I gave up everything for this life and I'm dedicated to make it work, I've broken bones and now my body in pursuit of it, I'm well thought of by superiors even though I'm untrained, it all can't be for nothing I hope.

I hope it works out for me too, I'm willing to see it through at the very least.

Thank you again.
