Alberta government thread

So the consequences to Danielle Smith for signing a MOU with PM MC....Nothing.

Stop holding your breath thinking this is gonna be the beautiful end of the UCP some of you are begging for.
Especially when she bid Guibeault adieu
There are any number of reasons for the UCP end up on the ash heap. Actually governing is not one of them .

I listened to the CBC At Issue panel about this deal. Everyone except for Andrew Coyne thought that this was PMMC’s biggest blunder yet and the LPC is going to lose Quebec for a generation. Coyne, like me, was ecstatic that Guilbeault is gone. Everyone else thought it was a disaster. 🤣

Its not a disaster, but it will cost them votes. How much will have to wait to be seen.

I think the progressive/climate driven left may be getting a dose of who they actually elected.

indeed, especially at the AGM when they had to cut the mike when someone asked the room how many supported separation makes me suspect many of the anti-separation conservatives in AB will flock to the new APC party If that happens the next election likely would be the last one for the UCP in power as urban conservative voters are more anti then pro separation. Likely also leading to a potential NDP government, but that remains to be seen.

Between this and the fight over using "conservative" in a new party's name, I think there might be genuine fear of a split.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says her United Conservative Party is not a separatist party
