Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

If Trump wants to kill the current auto manufacturing agreements we have this news shouldn't come as a surprise.

Can't fault us for planning ahead, just in case.

Trump wants to kill our entire auto industry, and unfortunately we arent a large enough market to encourage anyone to build here. Which means we gotta either fight to protect what we have, or give up and let the industry die. Both options will cause damage to us in some way. Its a matter of what choice is more palatable

It is NOT in your best interest to invest only withi Canada or to ‘over represent’ Canada within your investment portfolio.
When it comes to my retirement and my money, I will invest it where I will have the best opportunity to make the most reuen that I can.
Completely agree with everything you posted.

Plenty of work is available in the trades. The opportunities are out there.

Humans on a vehicle assembly line is never going to last forever.

Right. Because clearly nothing has changed in the last 10 months.
It's clear a lot has changed with the US going unhinged.

I'm curious what Chinas level of security threat to us is now. US bumped them out of 1st place. Where on the scale are they between 2nd biggest security threat and trusted new world order partners?

Neither is oil but that seems to upset a few. Same thing, lots of other jobs out there, isn’t the reassurance you think is. Right?

The world will need oil long after the assembly lines of GTA are gone.

Either way, nothing is forever. Adapt or die.

Apparently not Alberta oil though it would seem. The US is wrong to that. Plenty of future EVs for out of work oil patch types. Battery plants etc.

Alberta will be fine.

Clearly you're being sarcastic, but the reality is, selling more soy, canola, and seafood to China doesn't make them more or less of a threat to us.

Allowing in a few thousand Chinese EVs isn't a massive security threat. OnStar is tracking my every move in the truck, and Googe does them same then goes one step further and listens to me constantly.

We had cut many trade links with China as an act of solidarity with America. America is now putting the screws to us(and pretty much everyone else), so it makes perfect sense to back-off on some of our trade restrictions with China. That doesn't make China a trusted partner, it makes them a customer.

Clearly you're being sarcastic
Oh I wasn't.

I'm genuinely curious if China's threat to Canada improved and they're safer, or if they're just as bad, just that the US is worse.

Maybe I need to better understand what Carney meant by "biggest security threat to Canada".

Are they legally liable to provide information to their government on demand?

Buying a Chinese-made EV is a bet that China isn't going to attack Taiwan for as long as the buyer thinks he's going to own the car. If China attacks Taiwan, I can guess that the dealer network is going to collapse, the parts inventory is going to quickly run down, the resale value is going to plummet, and there will be acts of vandalism - with the potential for fires - which cause property owners to refuse to allow Chinese-made EVs into their parkades, parking lots, etc.

The world will need oil.

It wont need workers.

Alberta’s oil and gas industry cut about 10,000 jobs last year, but economists say something surprising about the loss — it may not be a terrible thing.

Even with fewer people, the oilpatch is producing close to seven times more oil and gas than it did in comparable years.
Every bit of efficiency found is one less worker.

Utterly wrong. If that were true, the 80% of the population which used to work in agriculture and has been reduced to something like 2-3% would all be jobless right now.

Displaced workers will find other employment as long as entrepreneurs are not stifled from innovating and venturing.

Canada is still a seller's market for labour.

I could talk about it, but nothing that can be said hasn't been said 100 times already.

I'll just keep my voodoo magic influence over Carney going, and wait for the Gripen announcement.
You can at least explain why you think special rules should apply for the fighter jet purchase that clearly do not exist for any other procurement program.

I could, but I have no interest in engaging in endless discussions about that again. I think that was a topic of discussion for a few days here, and frankly, I have zero desire to rehash that.

Like I said, voodoo.

This is sure to make Liberals happy.

Ottawa unveils next steps in its national gun buyback program. Here are the details

That $750M dropped to $248M quick.

There's only enough to cover 136,000 guns. Which is funny when you consider there's at least 95,000 AR15 model firearms alone.

Most owners of prohibited firearms are fucked for compensation. They get to turn in their firearms for $0 or become criminals.
