Trump administration 2024-2028

I like that whatever AI they used decided to put a Gundam up in heaven, and what looks like the F/A-37 Talon from Stealth about to crash into a tiny Marvel Helicarrier just behind the vaguely F-35 shaped thing.

If I were a devout Christian, I would think that would be blasphemous and contrary to the First Commandment.
In a lot of ways it is. Trump has courted a number of different groups to gain his support. Some denominations support him more than others.

Here’s a quote that stood out to me. I’m not Catholic, but if this happened, I find it extremely disturbing.

FFS

Same time that the Knight's Templar were burned at the stake, once the French crown controlled the Pope because Philip IV of France owed them too much money. Something I could see Trump trying to do in different ways.

It was actually his daughter Isabella "the she-wolf of France" is actually in the long run much more notorious as she was later married to Edward II of England and would later overthrow him in favour of their son, Edward III would Hollywood would have you believe was conceived when Isabella had sex with Mel Gibson at the age of three.

Interesting picture. Overlay this information against voting patterns in the US. The colours don't come across with the %. Prods are blue, with the darkest blue being the highest %. Roman Catholics are orange. Mormons are pink and Unaffiliated are the grey colour.

The map above shows the largest religious classification by state as of 2023 to 2024. In 41 out of the 50 states, a Christian denomination was the largest religious group.
Protestant
70 – 79%
60 – 69%
50 – 59%
40 – 49%
Under 40%

Catholic
40 – 49%
Under 40%
Mormon
50 - 59%
Unaffiliated
40 - 49%
Under 40%

Well, some people aren't taking the post very positively.

Also more Pope stuff. I'm not sure what the strategy is here between this and the above, other than to piss off several flavours of Christians.

I have a cousin who is an ordained Wesleyan minister, and is also a big Trump supporter... It seems to be a somewhat normal sort of mental gymnastics for many American Christians.
Warning. What follows is my personal opinion. Not intended as a slight on people who identify as Christians or Mormons, or any other belief system

It could be that religious belief requires a suspension of credulity - also called faith. Once one is prone to making "leaps of faith" in the absence of evidence, false idols are equally "believable". This could explain the fascination with celebrities etc.

Again, my opinion.

That's fair, it may play a part. I also suspect the echo chambers in which they exist, which portray the other side as being comprised of degenerates and pedophiles, also play a significant part.

There are not really any leaders who could meet a religious standard. Religious people choose from what is actually available, in line with their interests, as do everyone else. Even some Amish vote.

There are only two practical candidates in any presidential election. One of the parties has a much greater propensity to put pressure on religious freedoms. Not hard to figure out.

It's a thing called prosperity theology. It posits that prayer and donation leads to individual wealth. A big thing amongst many evangelical Protestant churches because it means that attendees will get rich so it appeals to the rich and poor. Also the church get rich by the donations. But like indulgences.

As opposed to liberation theology that states the poor are of exceptional concern to god and the church should be focused on improving their condition. See Oscar Romero and to a lesser extent Pope Francis.
