39 CBG ran some stuff out of there during COVID. Some facilities weren't too bad but not much in the way of wpns racks, lockers, and laundry areas. But much better then running things out of anywhere else in BC I imagine.
41 used wainwright during covid but many of those buildings should be condemned. Most didnt have first aid kits or fire extinguishers and werent ready for occupation when we showed up. Last year and this year we are running a battle school out of the British side of auffield since its not used by them any more. Needs some upgrades but over all does well in summer.

I was working there at the time. Many buildings hadn't had much money thrown into them since 2015 but the place was overflowing with 41 there. Seems like half the base is condemned when it comes to quarters. Glad to hear Suffield is being used

Back in the mid 2000s I did my BMQ in the RCMP PRTC in Chilliwack. Guys did SQ there as well.

Are reserve units still shooting for that 30 day enrollment window?
Yes and no, I thinks its stretched out to 45 now but still working hard to bring people in. Given CAMO will eventually see the CAF seek a large expansion the PRes which wpuld see most brigades increase in size 300% the goal really is getting the institution ready for that.

Intuitively it seems obvious that if people can go into tents, they could go into new shacks built to the specs of the old ones. But I'm sure someone has "reasons" it could not be done.
The tents are used for basic training, and for courses of that sort of duration a big room with rows of beds works.

The green sector in St-Jean is essentially a big room with bathrooms and laundry in the middle, and beds around the edges.

For anything past basic it is an issue of retention for courses that are longer in duration, and/or require more academic work/study.

Until the 70's people were accustomed to living with siblings in a shared space. That hasn't been the norm for 50+ years now, as families have shrunk and house sizes have grown.
