2026 New Governor General (split from Liberal gov't thread)

I said nothing about Hadfield.
Since I listed 3 individuals and 1 of them, Charest, had worked for a mjaro Chinese Telecom company in the past and you named 1 of the other 2 - Bev - the implication was that the remaining 1 - Hadfield - had some sort of 'worked for the Chinese' taint against him.

The R&Q charges for Rideau Hall would be astronomical.
I believe its like being on TD, R&Q are covered. Plus, I already shop at the same grocery stores as the PM and GG's staffs according the access to information results from when the Trudeau was still the PM.
Clearly septuagenarians are the only folks qualified to be GG
For GG it makes some sense. They tend to have had long and distinguished careers, and are less likely to go out running over pedestrians in their cars, or assaulting people...

Don't be to sure about that, growing old is inevitable...growing up is optional.

The Head of State position is most democracies, parliamentary and republican, is largely ceremonial. Some are elected, some are political appointments. Some are called President; some Prime Minister. Some combine HoS and HoG, such as the finely oiled machine to our south.

If we got rid of it, in all likelihood we would replace it with something similar.

To ape our southern neighbours we'd need to find an incontinent dementia riddled self aggrandizing grifter.

Is Kevin O'Leary available?
