If you’re referring to the Russian shenanigans mentioned in the above-posted report, if it’s clearly identified as coming from USSR 2.0’s info machine, my understanding is that’s influence. If it’s coming from a source that isn’t claiming to be USSR 2.0 but is actually being puppet mastered behind the curtain by the Russian state, then it’s interference.
Anyone not aware of who Storm 1516 is likely would brush this off, this group is a major player in disinformation. Its their entire job, these are the people who started the whole Kamala Harris hit and run story, and the story on mail in ballot fraud, not to mention multiple deep fakes targeting ukraine. This isnt some guy in his mother basement. Its a unit of Russian Military intelligence
Russia has been actively trying to screw with Canada’s democratic institutions for years. This has been getting reported on even in the unclassified public reports by our security intelligence for a long time now. It’s entirely reasonable to expect they would stick their fingers in the pie of separatism, and it seems that researchers looking exactly that are prepared to show their work.
Just shows their job is working in sowing distrust in media and government to the point they can continue their activities and have it laughed off as nothing
Russia realized long ago that political tribalism has moved on to a point where enough people view their fellow citizens of different political stripes as the enemy. Once that point is reached, all options are on the table, for the goal is to defeat the enemy.
