Trump administration 2024-2028

And again- until they, the US Government, starts to fine, imprison and/or seize assets/companies from the Americans who are the ones employing/exploiting these illegals, the issue will never go away.
Remove the jobs that illegals do, the illegals will remove themselves.
They've managed to invert that. By removing and encouraging self-removal of people in the country illegally, they've opened up job opportunities which have been filled by non-illegals. So there is more than one path, and they aren't obligated to choose one that pleases critics.

I’m about 20yrs earlier than you and that stuff was not on the agenda in grades 3/4.
I still remember singing ‘God Save the Queen during school assembly…..so things are tilted to the ‘old ways’ at my school down in Windsor.

Dude, if you think legal Americans are going to be picking strawberries or romaine lettuce out in the fields your head is in thebsand.

I don't know about specific jobs, but I have read the 30,000 foot numbers. The numbers of people trying to enter illegally are way down, exits are way up, and not all jobs are going unfilled. I doubt they're going to throw up their hands and declare defeat because strawberries and lettuce are going unpicked.

Scott Pelley speaks: ‘CBS News is on fire’ and Bari Weiss should be removed

Scott Pelley says “CBS News is on fire” and the news division’s editor in chief Bari Weiss should be removed from her job.

“My hope is that the leadership of Paramount will say to themselves, this isn’t working,” Pelley said in an interview with The New York Times, his first since being fired by CBS on June 2.

Pelley said he perceived that Weiss was “putting a thumb on the scale” on behalf of the Trump administration during the most recent season of “60 Minutes.”

United States Senator ( and former actor / song and dance man ) George Murphy put it this way in Time Magazine regarding the Bracero program (a guest worker initiative for Mexican farm laborers).

"You have to remember that Americans can't do that kind of work. It's too hard. Mexicans are really good at that. They are built low to the ground, you see, so it is easier for them to stoop."

I remember reading reports out of California in spring 2009 when the US was going through their "Great Recession" and how some US politicians were trying to 'force' famers in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and such to hire ONLY 'American' workers on their farms in order to drive down high unemployment and loss of homes and such and how the farmers were reporting back that they were only 'getting 1 or 2 Americans' applying for the farm labour jobs......As a result the farmers were begging to be allowed to hire the 'illegals' to work or there would be food shortages.

Weiss and Bilton are real journalists. Pelley reads news from a prompter. Actors don't have quite the same flex over writers in news as they do in movie studios.

That's why you have an effective guest worker program. Those people can come work legally, not be exploited by employers and can leave the country for family emergencies.

Brought to you by the party that hates the rewriting of history.
It appears certain people at the top may be having trouble swallowing this very much needed pill.

Trump drags feet on drone deal with Ukraine, mystifying experts

How “expert” can these folks be if they’re honestly mystified, given POTUS47’s … affinity to USSR 2.0?

Yes, serious. Weiss worked at NYT and WSJ and founded "Free Press" and - for the benefit of those readers for whom this is just another anti-Trump proxy fight, so she has to be the villain and Pelley the hero - is a moderate progressive. Her "pro-Trump" crimes are dissenting from the "party line" at the NYT and being pro-Israel and telling the people who work under her the days of putting out thinly-sourced allegations and cleaning up the lies/mistakes later are over. If she's pro-Trump/MAGA, so is Senator John Fetterman.

Op-Ed writer and book reviewer at the WSJ. Op-ed staff editor and writer on culture and politics at the NYT.
Good enough to be hired on at the NYT and WSJ. But the point is, as you wrote, editor and writer, not talking head. And she built a media business, which is a very relevant skill set not many people in the journo world promoted to executive positions ever have. If the best shot critics have is "her experience, defined by us, isn't enough for the role she was hired into" - an easily moved "No true Scotsman" goalpost when challenged on it - they have decisively lost. Plenty of prominent successful competent people fit that description.

Pelley vs Weiss is just another proxy war against Trump, and Weiss in particular threatens - in fact has dislocated - some of the popular media progressives thought they had locked down.

opinions do, but the facts are that he and his team have won multiple awards for journalism.
Key there being "the team". Talking heads are backed by a lot of people who do the journalist legwork and the production legwork. What if he isn't even writing the stuff he reads on TV?

Hey if a book reviewer for the WSJ can be a "Journalist" why can't he?

What if he isn't even writing the stuff he reads on TV?
what if he is writing everything he reads on TV? Is your position that for his over 20 years working at 60 minutes all he did was read a script?
