Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

The flags are at half-mast in Sooke, B.C., to honour the passing of a local resident, Nicholas Dale.

The 56-year-old pilot had been fighting the out-of-control Gold Mountain fire in Colorado when the helicopter he was piloting crashed into a reservoir.

He leaves behind a wife and two boys.

“He was out there doing his best and just so very sad that we lost a great person and an experienced person fighting something, a natural disaster,” said Dale’s long-time friend Adam Gilliver, speaking from Aireys Inlet in Australia.

Gilliver said Dale grew up in Australia where he began his flying career.

“He loved people and he loved being in that role where he could help as much as he could through his love of flying as well,” said Gilliver.

A social media post indicates Dale had previously worked for Ontario’s air ambulance program prior to 2005. Gilliver said Dale had also worked in Alaska and had decades of flying experience.

“He was a very caring, experienced man who loved the job he was in. It says a lot about the man that he was over there, in another country,” Gilliver said.

Dale’s body was recovered by a dive team about 20 feet deep in the water.

However, the National Transportation Safety Board in the U.S. said the wreckage of the helicopter Dale was piloting has not yet been pulled from the reservoir where the accident took place.

They have fires, we send help.

We have fires, they send tariffs.

Quid pro quo...

Time to stop sending waterbombers and support to the States. I am not a fan of rewarding poor behaviour.

Oh, 100 percent.

But we are far too nice to actually do that.

And some would call it unnecessarily inflammatory because reasons.

The LPC should stop playing fast and loose with the Elbows Up/I wore red for you mr Trump games.

Move to disengage our economy with theirs.

Trump isn't a one-off. He's a pioneer. There will be no shortage of hostile-to-Canada politicians waiting to take his place.

"unnecessarily invaded by filthy, polluted and unhealthy air, the quality of which is dangerous and totally unacceptable!"

And so are we - every time you open your mouth.

No. Time to advertise and promote the hell out of the assistance we provide.

I don't know about that...

I think it really depends on whether those politicians are representing border states who benefit from a strong trading relationship with us or not.

But when would the tit for tat end? And how far down that road does either side really wanna go?

Be a good neighbour. Send water bombers. Send fire crews. Send DART when needed. Etc etc (And BE PUBLIC ABOUT IT!)

It builds up A LOT of good will among the people who need the help, it fosters great working relationships between agencies, and is just the decent thing to do.

Politicians come and go. But a generally friendly view of another country among the population remains for a generation or two.

Pettiness won't really make anything better. But being a solid neighbour & assisting when requested will...even if it takes a while.

If you are right and there will be no shortage of politicians hostile to Canada, it will make it harder for future Canadian governments to ask future American governments for special consideration on things if we've been dicks for the past few years.

Maybe a quick stop at the paint shop to re-paint the aircraft red and white. Even if we have to do it with a brush or roller like the invasion stripes prior to D-Day.

I like it when our electrical utility crews head south after a tornado or hurricane and they are flying Canadian flags in convoy.

A pox on their house.
