A simple thing that would help is something like income splitting for married couples.

I'm pretty sure Harper did that and Trudeau cancelled it... I'm sure there is more nuance...

Pretty much bang on. The only nuance missed is that it wasn't a "full" income split, but PMSH kicked in, if memory serves, the Family Tax Split or something like that, while PMJT kicked it out (I think a couple of years later or so), for sure.

Can’t speak to Harpers version (I don’t recall that) but I know we income split for seniors so it isn’t a foreign concept in Canada. Just a matter of applying it to all married couples.
