You have taken the wrong slant on my post. It isn't that we can't achieve anything it is a question of identifying and acting (not talking) the steps we can take to regain control over our resource development. The latest moves by Carney suggest that they are trying to simplify things but nothing has been said about regaining sovereignty or perhaps I should say establishing sovereignty over a relatively small group of people who are, in the end, still Canadian citizens. Getting rid of the Indian Act would be a great start.
For a trip that you claim had nothing to do with Canadian membership in the EU, they sure made a pretty big deal about our EU membership.
Associate membership does not even exist yet, so we don’t know what it means.

Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein are part of the European Economic Area and have special agreements with the EU without being full members. They have different agreements. Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein: Through the European Economic Area (EEA), they participate in the EU single market. They must adopt most relevant EU rules on free movement of goods, services, capital, and people, as well as competition, consumer protection, environmental, employment, and some transport and energy regulation. EU institutions and the EFTA Surveillance Authority monitor compliance, with the EFTA Court handling many legal questions.
