Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

Then, we have to think about why Submarines are not even mentioned in the budget that passed. Why is that?
Because we won’t decide on a submarine until next year (summer earliest) , then negotiate a submarine purchase agreement & a maintenance contract. Once terms including payment schedules are established, then the government will include it in future budgets.

We don't have enough manpower and resources to start up two fleets. We just don't.
We don't have enough manpower and resources to start up two fleets man 15 x River-Class and the CDC. We just don't.
We don't have enough manpower and resources to start up two fleets expand the Sub fleet from 4 to 12 boats. We just don't.
We don't have enough manpower and resources to start up two fleets deploy a full Division. We just don't.
I get it. The CAF has manning issues all around but if we use the excuse that our current personnel situation prevents us from planning for our future personnel needs then I guess it's useless to think about modernizing our military at all.

You see the party narrative you're being algorhithmically firehosed w
Sooooo The CTV and CBC I get fed and watch (I have said it many times I watch Vassey and David Cochrane) is part of that "Alt-right, pro-CPC, rage baiting" algorithm? Just checked my browser stats, CBC on youtube and their website has a very high amount of traffic on my computer.

Surprise, I listen to BOTH sides of a debate/story/argument, etc. I get told by so many here that they won't watch stuff I post or directly refute what they are saying because it poison/right wing/spamming/whatever. So who really lives in an echo chamber? Not me

Give your head a shake, seriously. Your creating narratives, that are simply made up. Like the Liberals.

Ah, so the true north, northern perspective content you share here is the stuff you've filtered out from the vast array of sources you get your information from, while keeping the CTV, CBC content away from our susceptible minds.

Well, I for one thank you for keeping that untrustworthy filth away from us while ensuring that we only get the true real world videos of the highest quality. Many others might not thank you, but I do.

You literally just made up a bunch of shit, that I never said or implied. I stated I watch BOTH sides of the argument. I rarely if ever post the Vassey/Cochrane stuff because most of you have watched it and much of I disagree with.

Twisting what other people say to suit your narrative, very Liberal of you.

You forgot the 400,000 'Zombie Reserves', but yeah, it's all a big exercise in hope at this point ....

More on the Zombies ;)

After adoption of the NRMA, men who refused to "go active" were derisively called "Zombies", both in Canada and overseas. The term was used because soldiers who could not fight in the war were regarded by some as the reanimated corpses from Haitian mythology who were neither alive nor dead but somewhere in between. The Zombies were widely reviled by those who had volunteered for overseas service and referred to as cowards. The Canadian military was divided into two classes: "A" class servicemembers who volunteered to go overseas, and the "R" class servicemembers known as Zombies. At training camps, officers and NCOs constantly belittled, insulted and humiliated the Zombies to pressure them to "go active", making for tense relationships at the best of times.

As long as you understand it creates the perception that you only watch a certain type of media if all you share is a certain type of media. I honestly don't watch too much CBC or CTV. Big events sure, but day to day, not so much. I do have my favorite youtubers, some of whom I've shared on here already, from both sides of the aisle, albeit, not true north or northern perspective, who I must admit, slant things way to much for me to trust what I'm getting from them.

Have a good weekend Rick.

I will say, if Carney gets my hopes up via SAAB and just goes full fleet F35 after all of this, I'm going to be ranting a la Rick on here.:cautious:

I watched a lot of those content creators prior to the election, true north, Juno news, and they all seemed convinced that the CPC would win 200+ seats

I love this example.

When we're trashing Poilievre we're quick to say the CPC was so close to winning the election, but Poilievre screwed it all up. Poilieve lost a 200 point (or whatever) lead. Snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Also, CPC supporters thought Poilievre actually had a chance of winning <<mega eye-roll>!

Context matters.

Everyone thought PP would win 200+ seats in december 2024 . But to be saying so in march and april 2025...

Back to regular politics. Here is some "far right, rage baiting spamming" or showing an honest criticism of the government (depends on your views).

Marc-Andre Blanchard (PMO) does a piss poor job trying to run cover for Michael Sabia )Carney's right hand man in the PMO)

Sorry, just gotta jump in with a small but significant correction here. Sabia is not ‘Carney’s right have in the PMO”; he’s the Clerk of the Privy Council; essentially the deputy minister at PCO, and head of the civil service. Really important distinction in understanding the interplay and flows of power and control between the central agencies.

PMO = Prime Minister’s Office = political actors, transient in and out with the changing political winds.

PCO = Privy Council Officer = non-political top rung of Canada’s civilian executive, and oversee the career civil servants who, at least below the level of Deputy Head / Deputy Minister, remain in place through changes in governments.

Any source unable to distinguish between the identity, roles, and functions of PMO vs PCO can be safely disregarded as not a useful read on government.

@Jarnhamar, question wasnt directed at me but

- my answer in the F35 thread would be that I dont want the Gripen. From a purely military perspective the 35 is the right answer

-my answer in the sitting government thread is that I'm legitimately excited about it as (potentially)the first play not only in a broader partnership with Saab, but as one of the opening moves in a broader defense industrial and geopolitical strategy.
