That's gotten other Premiers commenting now, and outright calling for Smith and the UCP to make their stance clear.

2027 election in Alberta will be interesting, to say the least.

The other premiers should work with Alberta to see major projects through rather than actively oppose and go on the attack.

It's almost like they want the country to split.

Are you ignoring the pipelines talks that bith AB and BC founs productive this week?

I'll wait for announcements that Canada is forging ahead and approving major projects of national interest across the board.

"we had a productive call..." that's nice. Show me the outcome.

The outcome remains predicated first of all on someone actually putting a proposal on the table. The province of Alberta has signaled an intention to do so, but there’s nothing to actually consider and approve yet.

Pot, this is kettle, over ... ;)

B.C. premier says Alberta separatists seeking assistance from U.S. is 'treason'

Eby says he'll raise issue behind closed doors as premiers meet in Ottawa

B.C. Premier David Eby says Alberta separatists meeting with the U.S. administration and seeking financial backing is an act of "treason," as the issue of national sovereignty loomed over a meeting between the premiers and Prime Minister Mark Carney on Thursday.

"To go to a foreign country and to ask for assistance in breaking up Canada, there's an old-fashioned word for that, and that word is treason," said Eby, ahead of the closed-door meeting in Ottawa.

He was reacting to reports that members of U.S. President Donald Trump's administration have held meetings with members of the Alberta Prosperity Project, a separatist group that is pushing for the western province to become independent.

It would be interesting to see Alberta get a mainstay separatist Gov political party like Quebec. We seem to have grown to accept them. Would we be as blasée about an Alberta version ?

Regionalism is thyn enemy.

If at the federal level that would be interesting

It would be interesting to see how it bleed over into Federal politics and if it would like it did in Quebec. I am sure the LPC and their supporters would like nothing more.

THe western version of a bleed over into federal politics already happened. It was Reform Party > Canadian Alliance > CPC. The difference being that the Progressive Conservative party actively and knowingly enlisted Quebec nationalists (chief among them Lucien Bouchard) as to gain inroads in Quebec. When it became obvious to them that it made no difference in how the federal government (of whatever stripe) approached Quebec, they (along with some Liberals) decided to play their own game. It's lot easier to establish a 'separatist' federal party when one is already sitting in the House. It would not surprise me in the least that, as the referendum petition process continues, one or more CPC MPs reveal their true colours as supporters of Alberta independence - especially if they think that it would give them a seat at the traitor's table of power.
