Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

One of the issues being ignored on this issue is unintended consequences. We have to look at setting the conditions for success for future generations.

We have many competing interest at play
-Growing the economy
-Companies needing to make a profit (Thats what they are supposed to do)
-Companies competing with each other and across provincial and national borders
-Immigration levels (yes that affects career opportunities)
-Political gaming (using jobs, cost of living, etc as election issues)
-Effective and not effective environmental regulations
-Other regulations
-Union demands (they have to be reasonable)
-Housing availability (changes rent/mortgage)
-New technology

The list is pretty exhaustive, I have only covered a few issues. Its very tough to get it perfect but our leaders at all levels need to focus on moving the needle in the right direction.

If we change what can be changed (taxation, regulations, remove barriers, etc) and set it up so that we have a slight worker shortage, then labour comes into demand, companies compete for available labour. Then adjust migration levels to just barely cover the gap.

It is not a perfect answer and people entering the workforce need to understand paying your dues but if possible, they need a path forward that does not involve working 70 hours a week indefinitely to barely cover life essentials.

It requires a whole of society to constantly monitor the conditions closely and adjust when necessary. Ignoring a problem and pretending it is not an issue will only result in it getting bigger and worse.

He's never agreed with anyone.
. And I wasn't the one who introduced having two jobs I simply asked what was the problem with working two jobs (if you can find them)

I don't know who 'he' is in your post, but I digress.

There is no problem working two jobs. The problem is finding the first job.

In the meantime, every transport I see has Drivers Wanted on the barn doors.

Whenever I'm in the mood for a fright, I tune in Bonehead Truckers. "Carrier, or killer?"

There are lots of jobs available just not too many executive starting roles.

It's getting one's foot in the door.

For example, Canada's largest city is hiring Solid Waste Collection Operators aka garbage persons. $34.82 per hour.

That's not likely a young person's dream job.

But, the important thing is, it gets you into a union with thousands of members doing every conceivable job to keep the city functioning.

Ie: When a permanent vacancy arises , or a new job is established , it is closed to the public. If a member of the union doesn't want it, then, and only then, is it open to the public.

Eg: a low paying entry level position , such as Solid Waste Collection Operator, is something no member wants. So, it is open the public. That gets one's foot in the door for a better job.

All while building seniority, OMERS , Sick Bank. and all benefits.

When I was a 45 year old man who wanted to learn butchering (while I was a full time farmer), I had to do all the shittiest and dirtiest jobs (cleaning up shit literally, doing cattle guts, hauling nasty smelling bins, etc) and getting yelled at by 30 year old supervisors.

If someone ever does not become a carpenter, electrician, plumber, butcher, landscaper, etc because they don't want to do the "shit jobs" then shame on them. Suck it up, embrace the suck and grow from it.

Federal memo considers legal action against social media posting false info

Probably has nothing to do with the Public Safety Minister repeatedly accusing people of spreading misinformation regarding bill C-22 the LPC is suspiciously pushing.

Well we already have laws for slander etc, problem is most people online cant be held accountable because of anonymity of online accounts. I personally agree we should be able to hold people accountable if they are spreading false information as fact. The question is how we do it and to what degree

People in general should be allowed to lie as much as they please, including blurring the line between supposition and fact.

People who work for companies and governments should be liable if they're lying about their employer and their employer's policies. They can probably already do that.

Yes but actions have consequences, people should be able to hold people accountable
Sure. Where will the line be drawn? Is it a discretionary power to be left in the hands of politicians, or of civil servants who might not be politically impartial?

I would like to mark this momentous occasion, this, the day of our lord, 4th of july, 2026, as the day I, Altair, before man and god alike, agree with Armyrick.

Carry on.

"Be careful about spreading misinformation and disinformation about this." - PM Trudeau criticizing claims that ordinary hunting rifles would be banned

What is the truth? There are very few absolutes in this world.

And the LPC should be careful, this could quickly turn around on them and their ilk.

I mean...the LPC might be playing the game here.

We have outlets like the rebel who use the courts to get access to post debate scrum like they are legitimate media, while posting objectively false information on social media.

I'm not a huge fan of it, but I cannot say I feel bad for outlets like the rebel

If I felt this would be evenly applied id probably have more support for it.

Do you see how this could be weaponized to prevent legitimate criticism of the government?
Guard rails are needed for sure, but my statement still stands, government or not if you deliberately lie with the intention of harming the public, or public interest. You should be held accountable in a court of law.
