That assumes an intent to repair and maintain and not simply replace.

It is easier to shove more gear forwards than it is to figure out how to recover broken or exhausted kit, get it to a depot for refurb, and find the fitters necessary.

It seems that the camera system being used by the British Special Services were transmitting to an IP address in China at least according to the Daily Mail.
Royal Navy surveillance drones used by Britain's elite special forces were fitted with cameras containing Chinese-made components that were secretly sending data to an address in China.

The K3 Scout drones, operated by Royal Marines, were found to be transmitting so-called 'heartbeat' communications to an IP address in China.
Certainly am glad that we can trust the Chinese enough to have a security agreement with them.

Haven't seen any other information yet but they should have a security agreement with the Chinese like we have and then they wouldn't have to worry.
