Yup, I did my BMQ/SQ there last summer and we had people from Vancouver Island to New Brunswick. There is the option of the weekend basic depending on what's available in your area. A guy in my unit is a sig op. and did his BMQ with the local C SCOT R's on weekends then did his SQ in Shilo...
748 also had new poles put in, but I don't think our linesmen have ever touched them. I was considering going line as well, although there would be no real point unless I moved to another unit
Sorry, the key word was "spenco" for the search. I didn't realize there was this many references to them...looks like they are highly regarded by our members.

If you try a search I believe this topic has been covered a few times. Personally I like my Spenco's ....they cost be about $21, but I would say they are definetly worth the money. If you have bigger feet watch out for those Dr. Shcols' (sp?) ....I picked up a pair of gel Dr Schols that said...
I would think that would mean that you may have your hair lengh up to 6 inches in lengh, but you can't have it spiked straight up since that would make the bulk too much. So you might have your hair 6 inches long, but have it slicked back, having the overall height/bulk being 1.5 inches. You...
If even a fair amount of reservists go on to CT‘s into Reg. Force, wouldn‘t the Forces be better off putting all recruits (Reserve & Regs) through the same Bmq & Sq course instead of retraining them? I guess if you went this route you could say the same for all courses...
A while back at my home unit I was talking to someone and he mentioned that when you do strenuous exercise/work over a period of time you lose the salt or alcalyds (sp?) from your body so it is a good idea to mix in your salt packet with your juice crystals if you don‘t use it for your food. Is...
I have been putting a bit more effort into shaping up in the last few weeks as well. For pushups I have been just doing a close grip bench press to mock them, but I should start doing actual push ups now.... My weakest point has always been running so I have been focusing on that. I average 5 -7...
I have heard from a recruiter, if you have been outside Canada for 6 months or longer(I believe it was) during the past 10 years of your life, you are looking at 18 months + for CSIS to complete your security clearance. This if due to the 9/11 safety measures put in place. Someone else on here...
As for when you get your first pay...I wouldn‘t count on receiving it on the 15th if you start on the 3rd. Dnd= government=slow. I was issued 2 cheques before I received a direct payment because the paperwork didn‘t go through in time. I have heard of reservists going to basic and not receiving...
Another thing to add to what they had already stated is start slow and watch your breathing. When I first started running I would breathe faster and faster till I eventually was panting and gasping for more air. I find inhaling deeply through the nose and exhaling through the mouth works well...
You may not be allowed to do that many. When I had my physical last year all the guys were stopped at 20 pushups & situps. It pretty much depends who is doing your testing that determines how many they will allow you to do and how strict they are with your form while doing them.
