i am going to basic training soon, and i was wondering how it is, and if the physical training really hard. i can‘t really run far disctance, like i can run the 2.4km run in 13.57 min. and i know that isn‘t really fast. so is it really hard, and are the exams hard as well. and do most people who get to this stage get in?

The exams are not hard at all, your staff will drill the information into you, even give you answers to questions that are usually on the exams.

People who stutter, I am lost here , I cannot fail a student who stutters, even though I would. A drill command , must be clear , concise , and correct, the same with a fire order. So if his commands are not clear , concise and correct, and if takes him 5 minutes to give a GRIT, I cannot penalize him,if I do , I am being predudice , because of his handi-cap. I will suffer , because I appear to be picking on someone in the Army with a handi-cap.I am a tanker , and if it took me 5 minutes to spit out a command , my crew and I could be dead.So where do I stand , am I being a " Knob",or should I go with the flow , and pass every one.

You know...I am going to invite grief with this statement but it is the truth whether the bearded wonders, the psycologists and the talkshow hosts will admit it or not.

A handi-capped individual has no place is that sort of situation in the military. Further the DS should be allowed to fail (and I know you‘re not!) someone who is below standard and will not improve! it has nothing to do with prejudise but with being able to safey do your job. Your team depends on you for their lives in some situations. If you cannot safely function as part of that team then you have no business being there.

The worst thing that ever happened to the service was human rights coming in.

Having been around as long as you have I imagine you will probably agree.

What do you mean by "do most people who get to this stage get in?"
And are you male or female?

i am not handi-capped!! i can run in the time limit, but just under it.

I think the bottom line here is , if you meet the minimal standard , to get in, go for it! You will improve , and excell. Do things, you never thought , you were capable of. The Military is a good life. As for people with an obvious handi-cap , maybe the army is not for them. I heard the Army referred to as " The Handi-capped Olympics", and as " Subsidized Welfare" , I.E. People who couldn‘t make it on " Civvy Street".That bugs me. I have taught , alot of good troops , but I have run across , the ‘Odd Individual" , who got in , because the Recruiter , felt sorry for him , for being , the first member of his family " To walk upright".

DEEJ, if you are under the standard, and you passed the phys exam, don‘t worry. In your BMQ, you will get A LOT of practice in running.

Just remember though. When you feel like you‘re about to collapse, you have only used up 40% of your bodies energy. You CAN keep going ;)

Good luck and have fun!

I stutter sometimes, thats because of my hockey, boxing, judo and lacrosse i used to play. So because i sometimes stutter your sayin i should not be in the military? I think if i said one word 2 or 3 x instead of 1 that would not make much of a difference. Ive even heard of cases where the military has cured ppl of all stuttering.
