    Reservists Job Protection Superthread

That's the problem I'm running into now. I finished school last year, and 2 days after my last exam was on a plane to start predeployment training. Did a roto, came back and got a Civvie job where I've been working for the past 2 months. Being an engineer, it's hard to jump jobs, as you need to...

    Flying oversas, laptops and liquids?

I managed to fit my laptop inside a pelican case inside my small-pack on my flight out to Afghanistan last summer, the same deal with only being allowed one piece of carry on and the laptop having to be inside of that. There wasn't much space for anything else, but there was a little bit of...

Homecoming Not That Easy for Afghan Vets

On the other side of the coin, what happens to augmentees. It's good and well when a company/battalion deploys and returns together, but many reservists, and reg force augmentees are brought in from other areas to go on tour, then get back to Canada and are separated from most, and sometimes...

Vehicle Accident: MCpl Raymond Arndt LER

That road down to Spin B is in brutal condition, with too many jingle trucks driving like maniacs, assuming they have the right of weight. I went through BMQ, and am out of the same armouries as Gagnon.. He's a good guy... Speedy recovery mate. I'll buy you a pint in the mess when you're back.

Digital Camera for AfStan, What to Buy?

How convenient... the Powershot S400 is similar to the SD300... That's two recomendations for the Cannon Powershot digital elph cameras...  ;D Wow.. You'd almost think I work for Canon.. (But I don't)

Digital Camera for AfStan, What to Buy?

I've had my Cannon Powershot SD300 for over a year and a half, and I've taken it through -35ish days on the ski hill to the 50 and over days on tour. It's done well, and even the sand/dust wasn't too much of a problem if you care for your camera. Another great thing to get for it is a small...

    Personal Attributes Required For Promotion

CS Kenny, that "Peter Principle" seems to be uncanily close to the "Dilbert Principle", except in that it's the incompetent people who get promoted. Ahh.. good old Dilbert. The only thing that keeps me sane in cubicle life.. sigh.

Wings on cars......I mean come on!

Oh man... Wish I'd had a camera with me... In the parking lot of the restaurant I was at this evening, there was an older red car, nothing too special, some hatchback... with those very small tires that stick several inches out past the side of the body... I saw it, and thought of this thread...

PM diverts his plane to Cyprus to pick up families, Thats Leadership

Maybe... just maybe... the aircraft wasn't configured for 100 persons? When was the last time you flew on a CF airbus, to throw your own question right back at you. It's possible the seats for the forward sections were in Trenton, with an office-type configuration set up in the front instead...

Uniforms failing troops, says former Canadian soldier

I thought the pattern worked pretty well in the desert. The main gripe was the inconvenience of pockets covered up by the tac vest and plate carriers, but that was rectified for many of those who leave the wire by having pockets sewn on the arms. Now of course, no matter what pattern you wear...
