An Army IS a war machine

The POINT isToowoozy, with all due respect, that a military trains (and always has) for the worst case scenerio: war - 'hope for the best, but prepare for the worst'.

BFTs in City Equals "The Start Of A Police State"

Ran right into the ambush that has been set up by our junior leaders.  The lads, having been warned off to hit the first veh into the KZ, lit her up with the C6 and such. She hit the lights, dropped into R for Rocket and took off at a great rate of knots. LMFAO! That story just made my sunday...

    Let them fail!

I'm most likely wrong, but I heard (and I must be wrong) that some average? pay for an employee at one of the big 3 is on the average $67 an hour?? This can't be true of course.

    Searching for Darlene MacDonald

Well, I was with Duke's Coy from 82 to 88 before LOTPed. Glenn was a good friend of mine. Kevin, I knew in passing - he was more of a friend of my uncle who was in pioneers. Glenn was separating from his (common-law?) wife before I left. What happened to both I wish I knew. Tried searching...

    Stopping squeaky boots

LOL! Man, glad to see it just isn't me! I've had at least 3 or 4 pair of ankles boots over the years since 1982: and each & every pair squeaked. I've turned some in for new ones; tried soaking 'em; etc; I've had no problems with combat boots; CF shoes; jump boots; kortex boots; desert boots...

    What Was/Is Your Biggest Obstacle?

:warstory: underweight...took 6 months to gain minimum of 3 lbs...and I had always ate like a horse (which eventually caught up with me in my mid 30's ). 'Course that was in '82.

    2008 CF Taekwondo Invitational

Just curious, I wonder if an old CO from 2RCR helped to make this a reality? About 10 years ago, we had a CO who was a black-belt. He set up a TKD trg about +3 times a week for morning PT in the drill hall for those interested. I trained for 2 years, but put it on hold after I sprained both...

    In a dumb situation... Advice?

Well, just in my own case, i was a bit of a partier before I joined just 4 weeks shy of my 18th B-day. In my case, the military helped grow up and open my eyes (though I still partied a bit while single  ;D  'work hard, party hardier' - in the 80's anyhow). When family asked me where they think...

    Fallen Comrades (serving Canadian military)

Thanks Vern; wish I was still in Gagetown to attend. Told my wife this AM (she was the CC at 3ASG / I was BMC at the time with Ian at 3ASG). She was saddened and a bit shocked in that Ian was no older than mid to late 50's we believe. Ian'll be missed.  :(

    Medical Assistant - Reserve

Be interesting to see how all this works out as I'm in the same naval reserve unit as the first post by wamoine. I 'retired' as a sgt after +24 reg service (infantry, then LOTPed to med a) in Aug 06 to follow niner-domestic here on her last posting for her 20 regs. I'm  class A at the unit doing...

    Civilain Employment in Kandahar

Thanks for the quick replies troops! Heard the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires was being hired to work on the airfield, you could try them. I heard of the corps doing that. But I'm up here in Sept-Iles Que (niner's an Acadian from NB who's on her last posting here). I'm a 'square-head'  ;) -...

    Civilain Employment in Kandahar

Sorry if this under the wrong forum. I tried the search function but came up blank. I retired a couple of years ago after 24+ years (I'm 44 now). last month I was on 'vacation' ( can't call it leave no more for me I guess, but we were on niner domestics wife's leave period) in northern NB. Long...
