Tim Hortons in Theatre Merged Thread (in AFG, no plans to preposition)

Apple and oranges, I know, but if all the time and money that was put into Timmies was directed into, say, getting us better kit, I'm sure a lot more fighting troops would be happier.  I indulged a couple of times, thought the novelty of it all was kinda fun, but I really could of cared less. I...

Cringe worthy (the thought of having to do so)

The brown Temperate Combat Boot (AKA: Mk IV Cbt Boot) - No longer CADPAT

By all means, I wasn't excluding bureaucrats from blame.  I don't  know who specifically, or which departments/organizations exactly, are to blame for our many kit woes.  But somebody IS to blame. What you call finger pointing, I call being held accountable.  The levels of organizational...

The brown Temperate Combat Boot (AKA: Mk IV Cbt Boot) - No longer CADPAT

Can you imagine the impact on the system if all those who wear personally purchased non-issued boots (and it's a lot where I come from) decided, or were forced to, actually rely on issued boots through the system? What a joke.  It kills me how us low on the totem pole are held accountable and...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

One:  I've been down the road before and ended up more confused then anything.  Current situation could be better, sure. Two: Ha.  I doubt my exit from the forces will be predicated by foot problems.

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

I think it's a fair assumption. And I'd say 8 out of 10 guys I worked with overseas didn't wear the issue junk.  It was a non-issue.  Personally, if mine had sh1t the bed I would then go to my 2nd pair.  After that my third.  After that, I'd suffer through issued boots.  It's not an argument...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

Fair enough... If I seem a little cynical it's because lately I've been getting sick of working myself to the bone making up for the shortcomings of the army and the many idiots it employs.  Doing more with less wears you down eventually and in this climate I'd hate to have someone get in my...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

My local clothing stores is only issuing black GPs at the present.  I tried them a long time ago and will not ever wear them again. I will try any new boots that come out, but I can pretty much guarantee they will be either junk, or not suited to me. I get it, this is the Army and we do what...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

I haven't had to wear issue boots since I was in the training system.  I figured those days were long gone but now I'm hearing rumours of issue boots being enforced. I long ago figured out my foot issues and lower leg issues and have managed them.  Part of managing them is not wearing heavy...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

The day I'm told I have to wear issue boots (regardless of colour) is probably the first time I will get in any real sh1t in the army.

No issues out in a COP, ACP, OP or Laager. :)

    Op Attention Danger Pay Reductions?

I'm sort of guessing that too.  The news story is pretty sparse on facts.

    Op Attention Danger Pay Reductions?

It just seems in poor taste to all of a sudden tell guys 'Oh by the way, we decided we were paying you too much" right in the middle of it.  I agree with the decision to reduce, just not the timing of it.  How long has the danger level been reduced?  Should we start clawing back compensation...

Ah.... Seems public to me. I think I'd probably like to know him better.  Better add him as friend! In fact, I encourage everyone to add him!

Hmmm.... there is where a French profile would be useful (to hell with the PER point). He seems to like to intersperse his Facebook pictures with apparently real pictures of operators. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1006264089943.650.1625133488&type=1 I don't get how these...

    Op Attention Danger Pay Reductions?

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2013/04/09/afghanistan-soldiers-danger-pay.html I'm seeing a lot of grief about this out there but I can't say I necessarily disagree.  Doing it in the middle of a rotation though is, odd, at best. Who decides this anyway?  Treasury Board?  Forgive my...
