The reserve units and stone frigates are absolutely crucial in this going forward. They need to be far more visible and involved in communities to show the flag where the Regs usually cant as they were banished to the periphery decades ago. Not much COMREL going on in Cold Lake, Goose Bay, Shilo...
Just to play Devil's Advocate here - is that a local gun plumber issue? Our reserve unit has over a dozen GPMGs and theyre always promptly repaired/inspected with little incident.
HOpefully part of the reforms is BSLs get allotments of their own kit - at least basic stuff like comms equipment and small arms. I can see what youre talking about being a nightmare for things like drivers courses though.
Part of the issue I think is overzealous supply techs with too much leeway. At least reserve side its all too common to have to advocate on behalf of junior members to get what theyre owed at base clothing stores. Not even talking gucci kit like DICE helmets or NEOs, but things like rucks.

Saw one of the new Silverado Milcots. Bog standard 3500 with a crew cab. Fucking massive truck though. No placards, cabover or static straps though. Going to have to be bought out of unit funds I guess.
The French do some interesting stuff in all of their arms. I think we can really learn from them across the board, from their sub-sub-unit echelon vehicle per armoured troop to integrating a recce and force protection section into their tank troops. Neat solutions to some common problema.
The same or more headquarters isnt necessarily a bad thing - it depends on deliverables. Like if the new fires brigade works out in the divisional fight context, thats a win. A sustainment brigade is absolutely a win long-term. We plan on growing the Army substantially so this will buff as we grow.
Thats always been the more legit concern imo. Something closer to the Fenian Raids than an actual invasion. Not that we could do much in an actual invasion beyond terrorism.
