    Army Reserve Restructuring

Id rather grow the pie with parliament actually being useful instead of ossifying the class of people who can attain leadership responsibilities in the military. One of our greatest strengths in the Reserves is the deep diversity of experience and perspective.

    Army Reserve Restructuring

Id agree. Topping out at the subunit command team level. Major and MWO is definitely doable in the Reserves. If you want to progress higher, transition to the "geo-locked Reg". Agreed. Theyre already paid a bit less and will receive less MSP. Fair enough. That and less career progression...

    Army Reserve Restructuring

Im an SNCO myself. Only reason I have as much time for the reserves as I do is I have a fed job that has to give me time. It all comes back to needing far stronger reservist protection.

    Army Reserve Restructuring

Not sure about the Navy but at least in the Army where it seems we're hurting the most the "missing middle" - high-range MCpls to WO. I cant speak for supporter trades but at least in operator trades it seems we have no shortage of officers and an increasing supply of troops but its the NCO...

    Army Reserve Restructuring

That regime doesnt really carry forward into the 21st century. That was predicated on a large pool of largely rural youth to fill out the ranks with systems like this to train junior officers. We need all ranks.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

The reserve units and stone frigates are absolutely crucial in this going forward. They need to be far more visible and involved in communities to show the flag where the Regs usually cant as they were banished to the periphery decades ago. Not much COMREL going on in Cold Lake, Goose Bay, Shilo...

Informing the Army’s Future Structure - CAMO Discussion

Man I would love context on how that came to being. Thats fucked.

Informing the Army’s Future Structure - CAMO Discussion

Just to play Devil's Advocate here - is that a local gun plumber issue? Our reserve unit has over a dozen GPMGs and theyre always promptly repaired/inspected with little incident.

Informing the Army’s Future Structure - CAMO Discussion

HOpefully part of the reforms is BSLs get allotments of their own kit - at least basic stuff like comms equipment and small arms. I can see what youre talking about being a nightmare for things like drivers courses though.

    New RCN Fleece

Part of the issue I think is overzealous supply techs with too much leeway. At least reserve side its all too common to have to advocate on behalf of junior members to get what theyre owed at base clothing stores. Not even talking gucci kit like DICE helmets or NEOs, but things like rucks. Not...

    Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

The two sides plan to say at their summit in Montreal that they want to speed up investment in critical mineral projects, strengthen supply chains, and improve supply security, including by stockpiling critical resources to mitigate “market fluctuations and geopolitical impacts.” "We will align...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Thats a bit of a distinction without a difference isnt it? If something internal breaks on a F35 I consider it broken. I want the RCAF flying CF35s as much as the next guy but I think we would be remiss to hand-wave the troubling maintenance issues they seem to be having - especially considering...

Hey, you better stop. We have a narrative to keep here.

Especially since the Stelco CEO applauded the tariffs initially to glaze the emperor a bit.

Logistic Vehicle Modernization Project - Replacing everything from LUVW to SHLVW

Saw one of the new Silverado Milcots. Bog standard 3500 with a crew cab. Fucking massive truck though. No placards, cabover or static straps though. Going to have to be bought out of unit funds I guess.

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

The French do some interesting stuff in all of their arms. I think we can really learn from them across the board, from their sub-sub-unit echelon vehicle per armoured troop to integrating a recce and force protection section into their tank troops. Neat solutions to some common problema.

I think you want to give that one some thought...

    Army Reserve Restructuring

The same or more headquarters isnt necessarily a bad thing - it depends on deliverables. Like if the new fires brigade works out in the divisional fight context, thats a win. A sustainment brigade is absolutely a win long-term. We plan on growing the Army substantially so this will buff as we grow.
