I am currently doing a component transfer from reserve to reg force and am wondering how long you're aptitude test and physical test are valid for.  Or if they are still valid when you do a component transfer.  I did them just over 2 years ago.  I haven't had a chance to talk to anyone in the...

Advice on distr list for CT

Very good advice Meridian, never bite the hand that feeds you. ;D Dangerboy that's what I did intially, but I had my Sect 2i/c  look over my memo and he told me to include everyone that I want to see it.  Have you ever had to deal with a memo like this?  Again any input would be helpfull.

    Self Defence and Protecting Canadians

Well about the joint lock comment, unless you really know what you're doing they are absolutely useless.  But if you know what you're doing and the person isn't hyped on something they are very effective.  But I meant it as you can do something just not start throwing punches or kicks right...

    PT test

I did mine 2yrs ago for the reserves(same as reg?), I did push ups, sit ups, grip test and it was explained to me you either do 2.4km run or the step test.  I don't think they do the beep test anymore, but I could be wrong.

Boycott Cambridge U - they've banned the kilt!

If "the underlying reason for the graduation ceremony is that you become a member of Cambridge University", I don't see how they can ban some dress like DEU and Kilts but other "religious" dress to be allowed, seems to be abit of a double standard.   But that's nothing new for Canada I   guess...

    Engineers as Infanteers

Speaking from my limited experience in the reserves, almost every ex we go on we are attached to the infantry.  The secondary role of an engineer is to be an infanteer.  Although we don't practice section attacks or patrolling as much as the infantry, we do refreshers before going on ex's with...

The British had a great reality tv show called SAS are you tough enough.  They took something like 6 male and 6 female civilians with no military experience and put them through a condensed SAS course in the jungle of Borneo(sp?).  When I first saw the commercials i thought they would be really...
