CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

You’re missing the point. If we want to be partners in NOARD and defend North America with the US then we need to cooperate. If not, they will fight any incursion where ever the hell the want; including levelling Montreal. We could cry at that point that that it isn’t fair, but the only...

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

The American will not allow that. There is not enough time for a whiny Canadian shirk our NORAD obligations, thumbing our nose at our protector.

I swear those assholes work for Russian of China to make sure that nothing gets done. Wait until they freak out when we buy E-7 Wedgetails.

Opportunity to update the CC-150 fleet?

Perhaps we didn’t get the probe and drogue installed on our F-35s, likely due to our hurried buying schedule, so need a full tanker. Larger interceptor in CFB Comox, or Greenwood, instead 1950s thinking behind CFB Cold Lake.More pressure from the Americans to play a reasonable role in coastal...

I’m from vancouver, and my opinion is that when the tide comes in, all boats float. Though I’m waiting for Davie to try and angle their way in. 😜

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

That’s a product that already exists. We need a product that exists and don’t have the time to wait for a product that doesn’t exist (re the Cyclone and Kingfisher. Even Saab’s Swordisher has ceased development...

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

Couldn’t the US just ITAR any parts that they don’t want us to this horrible dead end. I would.

I agree with the cost to modify the jets. However, I’m concerned about the parts for the Global jets themselves. Boeing is frequently trying to commit corporate suicide but I’d wager the ongoing parts chain for Boeing’S 737ng is more viable than a Bombardier Global.

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

One thing that is bothering me not only the global parts availability but the parts availability in total. Bombardier will eventually drive itself into the bankruptcy giving Canada yet another orphan fleet.

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

They should have thought of that before the CMMA was going to be released. And the government wasn’t exactly cryptic in the launching of the program. Sure, for the next round or for the next AEW platform, sure. But Canada doesn’t have the time fiddle around with an opportunist French company...

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

I could see a permanently unfinished Globaleye project to placate that money sponge. The public would have to be convinced reactors parked in our ports acceptable. I’m skeptical. I’ve been wrong before, just look at my misgivings about the P-8a. That stopped when the auditor general stepped in...
