“NATO is in Afghanistan; it’s time they did some soldiering.”

Pakistan gets "Billions $$" from the US for "assisting" the US and NATO in the war on terror.......seeing as the US is not getting the promised help, then I see no reason to pay (into Musharraf's and others pockets) the big $$...start throttling it back, keep hitting the Taliban in and around the border....someone will get the message eventually

I thought this thread was about Obama's latest gaffe. ;D

"Right now, we don't have enough troops, and NATO hasn't provided enough troops because they are still angry about us going into Iraq."

This statement shows total ignorance of the 40 coalition members with troops on the ground in Afghanistan.A look at a map would be instructive for Senator Obama.

While 40 countries is good, it seems to me that just about everyone feels that more troops would be helpful

I find it strange that no NATO country is assigned to Nimroz province, smack dab against a country that has been proven to supply aid to the Taliban & company....

The map reflects the location of PRTs, not provinces within specific AORs.

The article is hardly authoritative, particularly as it continues to refer to a potential Canadian withdrawal.

Quite frankly, I believe that Pakistan needs to "do some soldiering" as well and clean up the lawless border areas adjoining Afghanistan.  Until it does so, no matter how much "soldiering" NATO (read the US, UK, NL and CA) does, the Taliban and its ilk with retain a safe haven.  The alternative would be to DA the hell out of Pakistan, an unpalatable option politically.
