2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

Just for once, I wish that politicians would campaign within their Constitutional boundaries.

A federal government should not be concerned about recruiting doctors to work for provinces, who actually deliver the health care Canadians receive.

It is about like a provincial politician campaigning on defence or foreign policy issues…
Welcome to Canadian hypocrisy, provinces will go to court about federal over reaching but at the same time demand the feds fund health care transfers more so they can cut their own health budgets. If the provinces actually delivered on what they constitutionally should, the federal government would likely have billions for other issues like defense

Not surprised Japan is not high on the list. My RMT says obligation, obedience, and loyalty is more important than personal freedom.

If you only take that one part of the quote, misrepresent it and forget the CPC advocated for that last election to their utter shock at actually understanding what was said. Then sure.
And what part of the economy was grown? Eco/green? Misrepresent it. Then sure.

That needs to be done so as too not allow something marginal and ineffective to grow into something bigger either though organic means or with malicious outside influence.
Burying head in the sand or ridiculing the movement is not the way to address the concerns. But then again some folks can never be satisfied.
Easing up on the party whip in the HoC could make prairie LPC MPs seem more reflective of the concerns on the prairie. The nodding seals behind some Toronto cabinet minister making a pronouncement that ignores prairie concerns is the most madding trend of all governments these days.

Don’t know. I made no claim. Still unsure what that has to do with negotiating trade agreements. Slogans and misquotes arent much of a rebuttal.

I didn’t take you as anti trade.

I've spent combined years of my life in Europe and I unequivocally do not want us to emulate them in any way.

Europe is a great place to visit but other than the Mediterranean weather I don't want any of it to be part of Canadiana.
So trade with Europe or no trade with Europe?

This is a weird statement given that Canada gets its history and culture from all over Europe.

So we should move away from western civilisation? I don’t agree.

It should be uncontroversial to note that many of the Europeans who came to NA ranged from disaffected to persecuted. The result is a derivative, not of the mainstream.

Europe has been the font of things like the French Revolution (and every sorry French reorganization that followed), badly-applied Marxism, fascism, and a general attitude towards people as "subjects" rather than "citizens"; there are parts of European civilization we should certainly drop from our practice of western civilization. Most of what I find useful from Europe originated either in Britain or in ancient times, and the British I find increasingly prone to illiberalism.

Why would he? I mentioned it before. It isn’t about ethics or gonads or whatever. It’s about liabilities. PP is making a seat by seat calculation.

Of course he’s doubling down on him. He needs all the seats he can get if he is going to win.
All parties have until the 22nd to replace a candidate if the chose to do so. This isn't a calculated risk when they can just put someone new in. Potentially swinging about 10% of the electorate in that riding to vote against the cpc.

I’m pretty sure that Tuesday is the deadline, 21 days before the election date.

Hey, if PP wants to start week three fighting FN calls to drop a candidate more power to him.

Holy crap. The "low end" of 338's projections are almost entirely in majority terorrity.
Yes but take that with a grain of caution. I think it’s closer than it looks. The CPC is still polling decently vote wise. In any other election they would be headed to a solid win with those numbers. They have solid base support unlikely to change their minds. They LPC while leading is doing g better but only because of soft support from the bloc and NDP voters. They could switch last minute or if something eventful were to happen. So far they have been forgiving of missteps and Trump, Smith, Manning are all doing they things the LPC needs to keep that soft vote. Carmey just needs to keep projecting calm competence.

This is PPs election to lose but Carney’s to steal.

I'm not anti-trade. I simply made a comment about convening,

And JT said it.

So after travelling in about 800 km and via 4 federal ridings in NW Alberta....there are the following:
CPC - major signs at each highway intersection plus smaller ones before and after each town. No real sign campaign on lawns seen
NDP - a total of 5 small signs outside of two communities in one riding.
LPC - no presence.
Others - no presence.

I get a blue rock might be elected in some of these ridings...but the lack of effort to try to win them definitely turns people off too who might consider options.

On a more positive note the swans and geese are migrating north, deer seemed to be doing well and elk are healthy.

Strange thing to ask when you consider our history…
How so?

Or are you referring to something else? Maybe a link would be good to see what we are talking about here and we can see if that would be part of any trade deal or if you just jumped to an extreme.
Trading more with Europe is fine; so long a situation doesn't see us joining the EU or him pushing to emulate them. He has a real boner over Europe after all. And didn't he even call himself European?

Given the Liberal track record with immigration I wouldn't be surprised to see him making trade deals where Canada takes on migrants as part of the deal.

As for links, do I really need to start plastering the thread with links about the messed up shit that's becoming common place over there?

Given that Canada’s history is linked to Europe, the UK etc.

Pretty sure he had British citizenship didn’t he? Who is calling for us to join the EU? And yeah, it’s major trading and economic block, so we should increase that and encourage it. CETA is a good agreement and should be improved upon.

What? Do we have any agreements that state that? If it’s skilled types that we need, then why not?

I want to make sure we are talking about the same thing. And what did any of that have to do with taking a leadership role in creating new trade blocks?

I don't know if I trust polls are whole lot in general, but I REALLY don't think I trust polls about this election...

When I look at the crowd turnout for Pierre's rallies, the number of people attending are in the THOUSANDS!

I haven't seen that kind of crowd turn up or have the kind of optimism that the PP crowds have so far.

It's an interesting one!
