2025 Wildfire Season

ATVs with poorly maintained or non-existent spark arrestors is also a common cause.
What percentage of fires are caused by ATV's and or their operators?
Break that down even more into how many because of lack of spark arrestors?
I am curious what the data shows here in Canada.

An Alberta wilderness association report from 2016 has 83 fires since 1990 confirmed to be caused by ATV's.

An ATV is being blamed for this fire this year as well

There needs to be a complete campfire ban right across the West. These string winds today in the interior-,thank goodness we don’t have a major fire burning yet.

And our RH currently is just 19 even though it has rained today. Everything dry crackles under our boots.

Isn't it interesting that the government totally denies the position of God in government until confronted by a disaster but then calls upon the Almighty for Him to intervene to bail the people out. Does he really expect a positive response? And why would the people who do believe and have been put down, despised as Neanderthals, boycotted from government itself because of their beliefs, listen to him? Just wondering

We have been perpetually evacuating in AB for about two weeks now. It’s getting a little old. It’s unfortunately something communities are getting very good at

The Dilemma

God heard the embattled nations sing and shout
"Gott strafe England!" and "God save the King!"
God this, God that, and God the other thing—
"Good God!" said God, "I've got my work cut out."

Religion's presence in the conduct of the State are different that its presence in the conduct of its citizens.

So yesterday one of the chiefs of an evacuated northern reserve was wondering why some of his band were kicked out of hotels.

Let me see....the last time this happened they were housed in the RBC Convention Centre where they urinated and defecated in the stair wells, among other things. The RBC is not putting up with that this time round.

Back of the line, Canada ;)

Demand for water bombers has 'skyrocketed' as Canada grapples with more intense wildfires

Ontario premier says orders with manufacturer are backlogged

"They produce them in Alberta, God bless them. But it's taking four years to produce more water bombers."

It appears as though the Europeans beat Canada to the punch. Orders from Europe were in place as early as 2022. Canadian governments only started placing orders in the wake of the 2023 wildfire season — the worst the country has seen on record.

Gradek said the European customers will likely get their planes within the next few years, but Canada will have to wait.

I am certain that every Provincial wildfire agency told their governments that their water bomber fleets were aging out or were too small. For years.

The Europeans ordered first. Try not to procrastinate, next time.

Strangely I live 5 minutes from where De Haviland is supposed to build their new manufacturing center. They havne't broken ground on it yet though all the permits are approved, and consultation with the local resident was finished in fall 2023. No idea what the hold up is as the company hasn't released any other information.

Well if nothing else this has again proven once again just how important and useful the Chinook really are . I've said this before that the only mistake that we made when purchasing them was that we didn't buy more.
Having said that there's no doubt in my mind that senior brass both Army and Airforce will be unable to justify their retention in the near future .
During our last go round with the Chinooks . It was only a couple of years after a bunch of wildfire evacuations here in Manitoba during the early 90s that it was decided that they were to expensive and they couldn't justify keeping them .
And then ..... Afghanistan.

An interesting aspect to the fires in Saskatchewan and Manitoba is that right now almost all of 3rd Division’s forces are otherwise engaged supporting the G7.

Any significant ground forces past sub unit size would likely have to come from central Canada.
