5 Signal Regiment

Hey, quick question here. What's the purpose of expanding the QGET 5e GBMC into 5e Régiment des Transmissions (5 Signal Regiment)? What other capabilities will the unit get and what's the general ORBAT? Since brigade formations have survived with just company/squadron-sized central transmission units for the longest time, what prompted this sort of evolution?

"Barely survived" is probably more apt description. Essentially its giving HQ&Sigs a LCol CO to be a peer with every other unit in the Bde and push the duties of the Bde G6 into a newly created Major position. 2HQ&Sigs is just about to deploy it's 2nd Sqn-sized element in the last year from a unit that's about 65% staffed as a Sqn. That should probably line up exactly why this is required.

This change will happen with 1 Sigs and 2 Sigs this summer.

So a super-sized squadron in the long term. Why not use "5 Signal Unit" instead?
