A Deeply Fractured US

DHS is saying he had a handgun and two magazines. Whatever you think of ICE and their tactics I don't think carrying a concealed weapon (if true) while you are planning to confront armed law enforcement officers is a very wise decision.
Kinda like when someone wears a short skirt - they get what is coming to them....

Nice try, but no. Concealed carry is legal in Minnesota so nothing wrong with a person carrying as they go about their business. However, while legal I think that common sense would suggest that if you are planning on confronting armed law enforcement officers...the same officers that are regularly physically accosting other protesters then maybe having a handgun concealed on your person might significantly increase the risk of something bad happening.

Maybe more like choosing to wear a mini-skirt in to the violent sex offender wing of the prison. Completely legal but maybe not the best decision.

Edited to add: This doesn't change the fact that this poor individual was murdered by ICE. I am in no way defending their actions but I still think that choosing to carry while protesting isn't a choice that I think is wise.

How many of those "law enforcement officers" were the civilians who casually brought assault rifles to protests prior to signing-up for ICE after the Trump 2.0 election win?

The name has been released, Alex Jeffery Pretti.

A slowed down portion of the Pink Jacket video, right as the shots start. Again, the image of the firearm DHS shared was already in the hands of the ICE agent in the baseball cap and grey jacket who pulled it from Mr. Pretti's waistband. He never had the opportunity to touch it himself.

There is a reason a lot of these guys wear masks…

Daily carry is a real thing for a lot of Americans. They simply don't leave the house unarmed, irrespective of their plans for the day. Perhaps you meant when in a city with confrontational armed law enforcement officers...

Seen it in Minnesota in the Bass Pro Shop. Shirl was quite inquisitive about it, and thought "what would happen if someone tried to take it?"

Tough to gauge. What did the officer see and react to? It had a look and feel to me of the officer perceived that the subject was accessing a gun and reacted to that. Any subsequent shots would have to be justified; if the person had and was still holding a gun and the officer believed there was still a threat, that may be articulable and lawful.

I no longer give ICE/CBP benefit of the doubt; I will not assume it was a good shoot til proven so. I want to know what the evidence shows.

Looked like an absolute shitshow of a ground fight. I want to know what kind of training those officers had. With that said, a subject proned on the ground who really wants to get their hands under them and access something is hard to stop from doing so.

EDIT TO ADD: Another quick rewatch on a small phone screen, even if he was armed those last 4-5 shots will be tough to justify.
There are slowed and zoomed videos going around where you can see grey sweater pull the 320 out of waistband holster on the subject, afterwards they blow him away.

If grey sweater was the first shot, the numbskull may have NDed with the disarmed pistol.

This shit is out of control and Minneapolis may be about to explode. A threshold really seems to have been crossed. Talking to some friends from Minn being a Manitoban, the vibe is even more tense than during George Floyd. Unfortunately I think the death is just beginning at this point. I hope sincerely Im wrong.

Bravo to these two ladies, however this is the message ICE is sending out to everyone else (and the other event today) and appears to be "don't help us under any circumstances". It also doesn't sound like the barest of bare first aid is covered in the few weeks of training they get, guns however...

More on Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA.

You’re right, with how that crowd is acting I would bring a few buddies and long guns. Considering they are murdering citizens doing lawful activities, if the police aren’t going to stop them then the obligation falls on you.
