A Deeply Fractured US

It is easy enough to reverse as well. As I said, one law, employing illegal immigrants results in jail time.
As it happens, already in place.

Passed in 1986, so 30 years before Trump was elected. That's the 30 years I refer to in which the political establishments had a chance to enforce laws if they didn't want voters to choose someone else to do it. Upon their heads, be it.

Shooter was still putting rounds into the body when it was limp and still on the ground.
It is tragic that neither courts, congress, nor the American population as a collective ground this trajectory to a halt sooner.

Remember, ICE was shooting people in cars and on the ground under Biden as well.

It's all the same.

Shooter (first shot) is the one in the grey hood. Not exactly sure how they're going to justify this.

EDIT: You can see him draw (left side of the group) @ 0:17, leans around the guy in front of him to fire off the first shot which then causes a few of the others to draw and start firing.

Tough to gauge. What did the officer see and react to? It had a look and feel to me of the officer perceived that the subject was accessing a gun and reacted to that. Any subsequent shots would have to be justified; if the person had and was still holding a gun and the officer believed there was still a threat, that may be articulable and lawful.

I no longer give ICE/CBP benefit of the doubt; I will not assume it was a good shoot til proven so. I want to know what the evidence shows.

Looked like an absolute shitshow of a ground fight. I want to know what kind of training those officers had. With that said, a subject proned on the ground who really wants to get their hands under them and access something is hard to stop from doing so.

EDIT TO ADD: Another quick rewatch on a small phone screen, even if he was armed those last 4-5 shots will be tough to justify.

@brihard

DHS is claiming because the person was armed with a weapon. Coincidentally you can also see before the shooting starts the guy in a baseball cap with a grey jacked over his vest begins running away with what is believed to be the weapon, he did not have anything in his hands prior to running up (also in the video).

So it's possible they panicked upon hearing "he has a gun".

6 weeks or less in training might actually be a really bad idea.

DHS claims lots of things. While the subject having a gun would be consistent with what we see, if DHS said “it’s currently winter” I’d be checking the calendar myself and then asking my wife to do the same.

They have posted a photo of a gun that would be a bit of an unusual choice for a street gun- clean looking Sig, with a Sig branded red dor sight, and visible serial number.

I am so perplexed a nation that has developed so much technology - albeit with our help, and Japan's and other nations - produce such a poor law enforcement model in ICE. Horrendous.

Never a good sign.

The agent, Tracee Mergen, left her job as a supervisor in the F.B.I.’s Minneapolis field office after bureau leadership in Washington pressured her to discontinue a civil rights inquiry into the immigration officer, Jonathan Ross, according to one of the people. Such inquiries are a common investigative step in similar shootings.

buddy gets icecuted right in front of a donut shop (Glam Donuts). Choose your place of resistance wisely.

Looks like federal agents (probably ICE and/or CBP) just shot and probably killed another one in Minneapolis. This video is already making the rounds and regardless of the officer(s’?) articulation, this will explode.

There is a female bystander (pink jacket) right there filming the whole incident. That video (if it is out there) would give a pretty good view of what happened.

Star Tribune is a pretty good source… all city police called in to duty.

Well this isn't sketchy at all. From the live page @Cloud Cover linked.

Several witnesses have already been transported to the Whipple building. ICE attempted to order local police from the scene, but O’Hara refused, sources said.

This report from the Daily Kos says the man shot was an observer.

The Whipple Building is the main HQ for ICE operations in Minneapolis. Trying intimidate witnesses?

Licensed gun owner with a permit to conceal carry.
No criminal record other than traffic tickets.
Police will not release his name.

Family needs to be informed first.

Here's a clearer photo of before the shooting from the video I posted above.

Brandishing a phone, not a weapon. Things are getting dangerously close to becoming something fiery to our south.

Again, just imagine what is going on that doesn't get filmed.

He seems to be so tight into the ICE agent space he’s being pushed back. To some extent I think it would be naive for us to think there isn’t a lot of provocation that is an attempt to cause any incident they can.
It’s troublesome ICE takes the bait every so often.

DHS is saying he had a handgun and two magazines. Whatever you think of ICE and their tactics I don't think carrying a concealed weapon (if true) while you are planning to confront armed law enforcement officers is a very wise decision.

Well I just watched a video of another protestor make it plainly and perfectly known he’s also conceal carrying with a permit. He’s says he carries because Minneapolis is unsafe from criminals.
It’s a very strange dynamic.

I’ll delete this. It’s not what happened.
The guy was trying to help a lady who was cs sprayed and then slipped on the ice.
