AEL blocked on DIN computers?

I was doing a search for a pub on the AEL today at work and when I looked up the B-GL in the search a message came up saying that it needed an ActiveX control installed, when I called the help desk about it they said that there is nothing that can be done.  So basically what I am getting from this is that a resource that the CF has placed on the DIN is not available to us.  Is anyone else having this problem on there account? I can navigate through the Publications Explorer but when I use the Electronic Library Search the error comes up

Any DIN fuelled search engine is junk, so I wouldn't trust them.  Instead, it's preferable to use the old school method: find out the B-GL number, and search manually

Up until they redesigned the site I had absolutely no problems with the AEL it was the easiest way to find them, but now since it can't seem to be accessed it doesn't appear so easy...

For the most part, I use Google to do my searches... even from inside the DIN.

Google will not find pages on the DIN (like AEL).

Still, I can punch in B-GL-309 into google and pick up 100+ hits with army.forces.gc.ca OR army.dnd.ca (amongst others)

Since the XP upgrade, several DIN sites & applications now require to be modified as they no longer function as a result of additional restrictions. That being said you will likely others which you cannot use and all that can be done at this time is to infrom the webmaster so they can have the required modifications completed. One program which also cannot be used properly at this time is the SCPS (Security Screening), you can enter and complete all the information but cannot print the documents once completed.

My TIS folks described the issue to me but of course much of it sounded like Cantonese to me.
