Does anyone have info the the AC Op trade and training info?

IE the QL3 and QL5 in Cornwall and postings?

Thanks

The info on the courses and about Cornwall is only available on the DIN.  I don't have the link handy right now, but will post it for you in case you have access to it.  I can tell you that the next 3's course starts 8 Sep 06.

Here is the home page for CFSACO (CF School of Aerospace Control Operations): http://10.8.132.31/cfsaco/Main/index_e.htm

As we found out in class this past week when we had to put in our posting preferences, you are not guaranteed which side you want to go after the course.  Yes, you'll be told that both sides are hurting for people, and also that no matter which way you go, you can always cross over later on.  If you are adamant about one side over the other, you might be disappointed.  As for tours, do you mean postings?  I found a link on the DIN a bit ago with all of the names of people in all current positions.  I'll see if I can track it down for you when I'm back in class.  They have told us though that out-Can postings are for the AD side.  AD is what I have put down for my first choice. *fingers crossed*

Elmondorf AFB, alaska
GK, Germany
Tinker AFB, Oklahoma

All are AD postings

Thanks for posting that Cdnaviator.  I wasn't completely sure which ones.  Besides, we were told to put them completely out of our minds as postings because we have no hope in hell of getting them for years, much less as a first posting.  :(

SECTION 1 OF 2
SUBJ: AC OP P RES OCCUPATIONAL STRUCTURE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
REF: 5555-31-00337(MOSART)01 DEC 06
1. AN OCCUPATIONAL STRUCTURE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN (OSIP) HAS BEEN
APPROVED BY DGPGP ON 21 DEC 06. WHEN IMPLEMENTED, THIS OSIP WILL ADD
AN AC OP PRIMARY RESERVE (P RES) OCCUPATION TO THE AC OP OCCUPATION
MOSID 00337.  THE EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THE NEW STRUCTURE WILL BE 01
MARCH 07.
2. IN ORDER TO MEET ITS MANDATE, BOTH DOMESTIC AND ABROAD, THE AIR
FORCE HAS ADOPTED THE TOTAL FORCE CONCEPT AND AS SUCH RELIES ON RES
FORCE PERSONNEL TO BE EMPLOYED AND TRAINED TO REGULAR FORCE (REG F)
STANDARDS.  CURRENTLY THE P RES AC OP IS NOT A RECOGNIZED
OCCUPATION. WITH THIS OSIP IMPLEMENTATION THE CF MAY THEN RECRUIT
AND TRAIN PERSONNEL AS P RES AC OPS.  AS THE AIR FORCE PRESENTLY
EMPLOYS A NUMBER OF RESERVISTS IN ANY TRADE RANK (ATR) POSITIONS IN
AC OP ROLES, IT CLEARLY INDICATES A REQUIREMENT FOR A P RES AC OP
OCCUPATION IN THE AIR RES.
3. WHEN THE P RES AC OP OCCUPATION IS IMPLEMENTED, IT WILL
ENCOMPASS PERSONNEL FROM THE RANK OF PTE TO CWO.  AS THE DUTIES AND
TASKS ARE IDENTICAL, THE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR P RES AC OP WILL
BE IDENTICAL TO THAT OF REG F AC OP.  CREATION OF THE P RES AC OP
OCCUPATION WILL NOT RESULT IN A REDUCTION IN PERSONNEL IN THE REG F
AC OP, BUT WILL IN FACT ENHANCE THE CURRENT OCCUPATIONAL STRUCTURE
BY PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED PERSONNEL TO REPLACE REG F AC OPS
SHORTFALLS.
4. STRUCTURAL CHANGE REQUIREMENTS.  THE NEW P RES AC OP
STRUCTURE WILL CONSIST OF TWO SUB-OCCUPATIONS (AC OP - AERO OP AND
AC OP - RDR CONTR).  RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS WILL BE
IDENTICAL TO THAT OF THE REG F AND P RES AC OP SHALL PROGRESS
THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENTAL PERIODS (DP) AS SPECIFIED IN THE AC OP OS.
5. OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATION.  ALL OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
SHALL BE ATTAINED BY FORMAL COURSE AND MIRROR THOSE LISTED FOR REG F
PERSONNEL IN THE AC OP OS. THE METHOD OF QUALIFYING WILL BE AS PER
REG F WITH NO CHANGE.
6. SUPPLEMENTARY RESERVE (SUP RES).  THERE WILL BE NO CHANGE TO
SUP RES AC OP MOSID 00337 WHEN THE NEW OCCUPATIONAL STRUCTURE
BECOMES EFFECTIVE ON 1 MARCH 2007.
7. OCCUPATION SPECIFICATION.  THE OCCUPATION SPECIFICATION (OS)
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS OSIP WILL COME INTO EFFECT ON 1 MARCH 2007, THE
IMPLEMENTATION DATE OF THIS OSIP.
8. ESTABLISHMENT. THE REQUIRED AC OP ESTABLISHMENT CHANGES, TO
HARDEN P RES ATR POSITIONS INTO AC OP POSITIONS, ARE INCLUDED IN THE
OSIP.
9. OCCUPATION TRANSFER - P RES. ALL AC OP AIR RESERVE PERSONNEL,
CURRENTLY EMPLOYED AS A PRIMARY RESERVIST WILL BE COMPULSORY
OCCUPATION TRANSFERRED (COT) TO THE APPROPRIATE NEW AC OP P RES
SUB-DIVISION/SUB-OCCUPATION EFFECTIVE 1 MARCH 2007 AND WILL CARRY
OVER RANK, SENIORITY, PAY AND TERMS OF SERVICE.
10. RECRUITING. RECRUITMENT TO THE NEW P RES AC OP OCCUPATION
WILL BE FROM A POOL OF FORMER REG F MEMBERS, SUITABLE TRAINED
CIVILIANS AND FROM THE SUPPLEMENTARY RESERVE.
11. TRAINING. THERE WILL BE NO CONVERSION TRAINING REQUIRED.
STEADY STATE OCCUPATIONAL TRAINING WILL BE CONDUCTED COINCIDENTALLY
WITH REG F TRAINING AS REQUIRED.  AS ONLY TRAINED PERSONNEL ARE
RECRUITED FOR P RES AC OP POSITIONS NO ADDITIONAL COST IS
ANTICIPATED.  NORMAL UNIT CERTIFICATION PROCEDURES WILL APPLY.
12. PAY. P RES AC OP WILL BE EVALUATED BY DPPD TO DETERMINE THE
APPROPRIATE PAY GROUP ASSIGNMENT.
13. EDUCATION STANDARD. THE ACADEMIC STANDARDS FOR (P RES)
ENROLMENT IN THE CF ARE DESCRIBED IN CFAO 49-11
14. THERE IS NO CHANGE TO THE MINIMUM MEDICAL CATEGORY, MEDICAL
TASK STATEMENTS, SECURITY CLEARANCE OR DEU FOR PERSONNEL ASSIGNED TO
THE AC OP OCCUPATION.
15. RECORDS.  ALL AUTOMATED RECORDS WILL BE AMENDED TO REFLECT
THE STRUCTURAL CHANGE IN THIS OSIP.  ALL BASE URS/BORS WILL MANUALLY
UPDATE THE PERSONNEL RECORDS OF THE AFFECTED MEMBERS. THESE INCLUDE
BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Meaning all the OUTCAN ones?

IIRC, all the AWACS postings for AC Ops are MCPL and above

Roger but...there are OUTCANs for more than the AWACS (ASTs, BDTs etc, sorry if my AF lingo is spotty) in the AC Op MOC isn't there?

Just curious here...where the kit and Operators go...so does the technician's who fix what is broken  ;D

I was talking to a 226 WO who was offered a posting to GK Germany as a Snr Tech...said there was spots on the aircrew for 226ers each time they were in the air.

You would have to ask an AC Op about positions other than AWACS, those are the ones that i aware of.

Indeed, i had 2 ATIS techs on my sea survival course.  One was the person actualy posted into the position and the other was the alternate.

You'd better bone up on your radar and comms maintenance skills then - the flying positions are very light on IT.

Yep.  They're pretty sought after.  And like someone mentioned, they're MCpl +.

Everyone who graduates as AD from Cornwall goes to North Bay.  You gotta go your time in the Bay.

futher to out can postings we have  tyndall AFB, ,Denver, Cape Cod, Clear, Cedar Springs, GK, Tinker, elemndorf, some in Cali, Rome NY, Seattle, Wa and a couple others.....Greenland..... lots of chances to get out can.....there postings for Cpls out can but most flying spots are MCpl for Tinker and Alaska and Sgts for Germany.

I’m brand spanking new to this site, a gentleman who recently retired from the forces was telling me about it the other day, he suggested I come pay a visit and ask you guys the question he could not fully answer.

I’ve applied for AC OP. I’ve passed nearly everything, and I’m at the very last stage where my file is sent to Toronto for medical evaluation, and I am giving an “Air Worthiness number?”

I’ve done a bit of research on the matter, from what I understand, they weed out anybody who isn’t fit to be near, in or around aircraft and their electronics.

What I’d like to know is, how long of a wait is it? My file has been in Toronto for over 3 weeks, and I’m told it will take another 2 months? Has anybody been through this process already? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

J Jeanneault.

Mine took 2 months.  As you can imagine, they are quite busy in Toronto.  Lots of files to review and not that many medical staff to do it.

Hurry up and wait.  ;D

Have you read through these threads?

http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/51584.0.html
http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/48751.0/all.html

Anyone that is currently an AC Op (as well as many other AF trades) has gone through the process of obtaining an Air Factor.  I have never heard it called "worthiness" though, and don't understand the "weeding out" that you are speaking of.  Anyone??

Thanks for the help guys

I got some of my info from here... maybe I was looking in the wrong spot haha

"Hurry up and wait" sounds very appropriate!

haha

Thanks again folks
